Usually before eating at any restaurant serving Asian food, I do a Google review search. If there’s no Asians leaving good review, I don’t go. Been to too many highly reviewed (by non Asians) Asian restaurants in Gent and they are 99.9% very disappointing. So visiting this restaurant wasn’t my choice and it came as a surprised after I got into my friend’s car. I did read somewhere that at the Dok Nord there’s a restaurant serving Singapore Laksa.
We were excited to see the menu consisting quite some Asian flavor. We had ordered the Gyoza, crispy pork belly, Thai red curry with beef and Singapore laksa to share.
The Gyoza came pathetically only 4 tiny pieces. There’s nothing wow about the taste.
The crispy pork belly stir fry green beans… not sure why they called it “crispy” because there was nothing Crispy in the pork belly where the skin should be crispy.
The Thai red curry was the most edible as I guess if you got the red curry paste from any supermarket, you could make it at home.
Lastly the laksa… which we discussed if they would use the instant Prima laska as base… they didn’t. They laksa was completely lack of taste, not sure what to make of it. They should have used the instant laksa package by Prima. I would have felt cheated but at least it would hé much more enjoyable.
We got into the car and my friend said we got to review the place… I asked “I am not going back, are you?”...
