Chez Soje — Restaurant in Jette

This restaurant is not in the heart of the touristic area (we took a taxi ride for about 15-20 mins) from the center, but it’s DEFINITELY worth the trip. The experience we had is what you want every time you come to a restaurant anywhere in the world: welcoming service, local ambience, perfect food. The menus are written on big chalk boards and they are in French and Dutch. We speak neither. What ended up happening: the boards we set near our table and we were explained regarding every dish in English (sometimes they had to use google translate). It was incredibly sweet and made us feel very welcomed. Absolutely everything we ordered tasted amazing, every ingredient was fresh, every sauce was perfectly balanced. Presentation is also beautiful. Whoever is behind the stove is a genius. I tried a couple of gin based cocktails - also great! Deserts were fantastic! Overall a wonderful experience! We travel a lot and this is a spot which made an impression...

De prime abord et de l'extérieur, un restaurant qui ne paye pas de mine sur le coin de deux artères fort fréquentées d’un quartier sans grand intérêt. Sauf que justement , l’intérêt de ce quartier trouve tout son sens par la présence de ce restaurant… Une déco sobre d’un estaminet des années 50…1950..Un ravissement pour celles et ceux qui ne cherchent pas le superflu. Mais allons droit au but …L’accueil était à la hauteur du service qui s’en suivit, parfait ! La carte quant à elle, répondit parfaitement à celle de mes attentes et dans la continuité du décor...était d’une pertinence absolue. Concise et d’une efficacité immédiate pour titiller vos papilles gustatives. J’optai pour des huîtres et une choucroute (mariage délicat mais mon cerveau, déjà, avait laissé le droit du choix à mon estomac). Le jeune homme qui nous servit , nous conseilla judicieusement sur le vin devant accompagner notre repas. Pour moi, huîtres et choucroute ; pour mon invité, os à moelle en entrée suivi de la fameuse choucroute tant ventée. Service parfait, repas parfait...Un délice. .. Que dire de plus ? Pas grand-chose ! Le choix du vin était très judicieusement argumenté et se maria tout en finesse avec notre repas. Ah oui, j’oubliais l’addition… Rien à redire à ce niveau-là, très, très abordable. My fist visit to Chez Soje. We very much enjoyed these simple classic dishes made with care and good produce. I would like it even better if each dish had its own vegetables/garnish rather than the same roast potatoes, cress and roast tomato for several dishes. Probably thats not economically feasible but otherwise I would have given 5star for food instead of 4. The service was super...
