Venetiaanse Gaanderijen - Restaurant en Eventlocatie — Restaurant in Ostend

For some weird reason here the restaurant is mixed with the inside museum AND the outside gallery so let me break that down for you: -Restaurant is amazing because 1) the food is overall great, special mention to the tomaat met garnalen (grey shrimps in tomatoes) and 2) it is one of the restaurant on the seafront that have the biggest interior space with lots of table close to the window which is very valuable in a land where the weather is not always great

Museum is quite nice, there is generally one exhibition that is related to flamish artists / culture. Subjects are quite varied (can be comics, history, painting, photographs) and I’d say the visit takes around 1h. It can be nice to do if it suddenly starts raining

-The outside gallery is composed of concrete arches which in my opinion add to the overall aesthetics of the seafront when you are having a walk but are not worth travelling to see them in particular. Inside the arched gallery there is a photo exhibition, usually of photos of the coast or ostende (if changes every year). All the subtitles are in Dutch though so if you are interested I suggest trying...

“Even with a reservation…chances are high you don’t get your table… due to inadequate managing.”

Booked a table, upon arrival ( on time) no table available… advised to come back 30’ later. After those 30’ …no table !!! We sat inside awaiting a drink that never came… after another 30’ we left… in the meantime all the kichens were closed ! No apologies, nothing offered, …shame on you Mr master waiter! Another perfect Saturday evening ruined by incompetent managing…Looks are important but organisational skills even more…...

Met grote verwachtingen begonnen wij aan ons restaurantbezoek bij de Venetiaanse gaanderijen. Leuk terras, mooi uitzicht, klaar om er echt van te genieten. Wij werden onthaald door een heel vriendelijke zachte mevrouw die onze bestelling op nam. Na 10 minuten kregen wij eerst de tapas, terwijl er nog steeds geen drinken op de tafel te zien was. Kort daarna werd onze drank toch geserveerd. Na het aperitief en tapasbordje moesten wij anderhalf (!!!!) uur wachten op onze hoofdschotel. Intussen waren er al verschillende tafels rondom ons die zonder drank zaten en waar de (half)lege borden lange tijd op de tafels bleven staan. Wij aten de mossels, die waren goed klaar gemaakt, een mooie portie. In ons gezelschap nam er iemand de kabeljauw met preipuree en mousselinesaus. De vis was volledig overkookt, de preistoemp was droog en helemaal niet lekker van smaak. Voor 36 euro dus zeker zijn geld niet waard. Tot overmaat van ramp was er geen licht in de toiletten (electriciteit was uitgevallen). Na het eten hebben we nog een kwartier moeten wachten op de rekening. Er werd niet gevraagd of het lekker was, geen bedankt en tot ziens. We zijn zwaar teleurgesteld terug naar huis gekeerd. Jammer voor een nieuwe zaak dat er zo een slechte organisatie is, blijkbaar totaal onbemand. Echt jammer, want qua locatie is er geen betere plaats te vinden...
