Utopia food & grill — Restaurant in Ypres

Went here with my students on a school trip to Belgium (from Canada). Made reservations for 30. The restaurant was incredibly accommodating for a large group, and even able to accommodate the fact our bus was late.

The kids were really looking forward to all the options available, but when we got there we found out we had to choose from a menu with only 5 items on it, because we were a group. This was not communicated to us before hand. The kids were really looking forward to the choices on the full menu, and were disappointed that they were so limited - especially given how many vegetarians I had (with no real options). So this was unfortunate. Had we known this, we would have split up and eaten in multiple restaurants to ensure kids had more choice. The food we had was good, though not significantly memorable. Extrêmement déçu de l'accueil et de l'attention porté de la part de notre serveur alors que le restaurant était quasiment vide à 20hrs cette personnes n'a plus envie il faudrait sûrement sent passé ou lui faire passer une formation après avoir débarrassé notre table on ne nous propose ni café ni desserts nous avons pourtant attendu 10 min mais pas de prise de commande si cest pour délaisser les client à 20hrs il vaut mieux fermé le soir.. en revanche le plat était très bon mais cela ne suffit pas a tenir un restaurant merci au chef cuisinier pour avoir sauvé ce repas hélas ce restaurant est très beau mais je ne reviendrais jamais déçu de cette première visite à ypres.. j'espère que ce commentaire vous aidera à vous remettre en question bonne...

Een arrogante patron. Zeker niet de moeite waard om daar te gaan eten. Veel leukere en gezelligere plekjes in Ieper. Hij keek ons al ‘niet vriendelijk’ aan toen we binnenkwamen met 2 kleine kinderen. We waren met familie +/- 10pers. We zaten helemaal achteraan (geen ramen). De steak was niet mals. Ik kreeg mij dessert een meter van mij, zelf nog moeten dichter schuiven omdat meneer misschien te lui was om rond de tafel te lopen. De koeken waren zacht en de chocoladesaus was al gedeeltelijk hard …

Ons zien ze daar nooit meer terug. Ik heb zelf een lange tijd in de horeca gewerkt en weet wat mensen op...
