Came in here after being dropped off by a shuttle for the water taxi to Caye Caulker. Travelling from Guatemala, and not being able to buy any Belize dollars in my country before arriving here, I had no Belize currency at all. However none of the nearby banks would accept my UK debit card. I came in here with my girlfriend and desperately asked a member of staff if I could use their WiFi for literally 2 minutes to try and get in touch with my bank and work out why my card wouldn’t work. The staff member refused and passed me to his manager, who straight away looked down her nose at me as if I were some disease that had just wandered into her restaurant. She wouldn’t let me use the WiFi until I bought something, to which I told her I had no way of getting cash until I could get money out of the ATM, which is why I was desperately asking to use their WiFi quickly to sort the problem out. I told the lady that my girlfriend and I were going to miss our water taxi and had no cash at all, and I would buy something from them if they would just let me use their WiFi first, but she shrugged her shoulders and basically showed me the door! A fellow tourist overheard this while paying for his order at the till and offered to let me use his WiFi code with his purchase, to which she cut over the top of him and made up some rule that it had to cost more than $10 to be allowed. He was ordering a sandwich for $13 and asked her what the problem was, to which she again made up some other excuse as to why she would not let us use their internet for a couple of minutes!! I have never encountered someone so petty and rude in my life. We were stranded in a foreign country with no money and only asked for a little understanding but were turned away like pests. Hope she traps her fingers in that till drawer the money grabbing *!! After being basically shown out of the restaurant I went a few doors down to the next cafe and the guy in there couldn’t have been more understanding and helpful, letting me use their internet and checking if I had sorted the problem, and if there was anything he...

I am deeply disappointed to write this review especially as a Belizean that supports small businesses, but our experience this morning was so poor I feel compelled to warn others.
I visited Spoonaz cafe for breakfast, expecting a relaxing start to the day. Unfortunately, it was anything but. We order our breakfast and awaited for our food.
However, that time came and went with no sign of our breakfast. 30 minutes passed and we as other tables who were seated after us receive their meals. After waiting well beyond the initial estimated time , we were once again approached for our order in which was almost 45 minutes of waiting , no acknowledgment of the delay, and crucially, no accurate new wait time was provided as I asked politely for a time frame and none was given . We were just told "it's coming soon." Waiters don’t even ask how are you doing or officially apologize on what’s happening .
We are all happy to wait for good food if we are given a honest timeline as they told us that in 4 minutes it will be ready but nothing 15 minutes passed and we were left in the dark while hungry and ignored is simply unacceptable.
After a total wait that became utterly unreasonable, we made the decision to leave and cancel our order. We had to walk out and take our business elsewhere because the service was so poor.
A coffee shop should understand that people are on schedules, especially in the morning. The failure here wasn't just the kitchen being slow (which happens), but the front-of-house staff's inability to communicate honestly and manage the situation and acknowledge on what is happening.
Unfortunately I won’t...
Read moreOverall, I wouldn't recommend this place, especially for digital nomads or people who like to work from cafés, or in general, people who enjoy spending time at a café chatting with friends.
The owner was very rude and complained about us not spending enough money compared to the time we spent there, even though the place was completely empty of clients. (I would say, this is not a good way to run a business.)
This person seems to prefer having no business rather than having repeat clients who like to stay longer and spend some money.
The service is very slow; one time they completely forgot to make my food, and I had to reorder it. Other times, it just took a long time. The food is just decent, but nothing really great. The only great thing about this place is its location, and the café itself looks pretty and has Wi-Fi and outlets. It's usually a great place to stay longer, but as I mentioned, they won't let you.
This was my experience...
