The good bad and ugly

I have to say the beer in Belize is very good especially when it’s 2 for $5. My wife had a frozen rum drink which was very good.

Now the bad, the service was horrible! Waitress had zero attention to customer service, no smile just a sour frown on the face. Next table got up and left when their food arrived, said it was cold. They arrived before us and still hadn’t gotten their drinks.

Now for the Ulgy, we order a seafood basket. It arrived in a basket with 5 unidentifiables coated in a yucky batter served with French fry’s that were worse than Walmarts great value brand. Our basket was just dropped in front of us and the cook walked away. * no plate, cutlery or condiments. Wife had to get attention of the waiter, we are civilized and don’t eat with our hands. I should have followed the next table and walk out. The basket was $20 and horrible, I wouldn’t be surprised if they picked up some Wet lizard floating in the harbour and made it the seafood basket.

The place next door was hopping *should have gone...

We just got back aboard the Regal Princess after spending the day in Belize. The last thing we did was stop by The Wet Lizard on the way back to the ship ferry. Tracy waited on us and recommended the combo fish platter - I’m not a big fan of anything that tastes too fishy and she said their fish was very mild so I ordered it. OMG, it was so good. The fried shrimp were amazing, the fish was indeed very mild, moist, and fried perfectly. I’ve never had Conch before and it was great as well. Everything was fried perfectly (not greasy) and served with fries and coleslaw. I also asked for tarter sauce and what do you know, it’s made in-house and was a perfect compliment to the fried fare. Everything was so good, the vibe was on point, Tracy’s service was impeccable and I way over-tipped (almost 80%) because my experience, the food, and the service was so good. If you ever find yourself getting off a boat in Belize, do yourself a favor and stop in and ask for Tracy - tell her Jeff...

Stopped at the Wet Lizard after our excursions and before returning to our ship. First time in this port and it is so.cute and lively with a fun vibe. We wanted a quick local snack and ordered Belikin, the local beer, conch ceviche, jerk pork tacos and rice and beans. The servers were nice and friendly. Its open air right in the midst of the terminals in port. The beers were ice cold. The conch ceviche small.portion was massive. Fresh and flavorful and served with fresh authentic tortilla chips and loaded with conch. The jerk pork tacos were excellent. Tender flavorful pork with a nice sauce and served with a side of chips and Pico. My husband really liked the beans and rice. They were my least favorite item though really not bad. We enjoyed sitting at the bar on the water in the open air with lively music playing. Prices seemed reasonable as well. Perfect end to our day in...

We were here at port from our Carnival Cruise. The place was swamped and it took a minute for the waitress to get to our table but she apologized for the wait and advised that they were short staffed. We unde4rstood and decided that we would order all o our food and drinks at once to help her from having to keep coming back and forth to our table. She did an excellent job, our order was correct and she even took the chance to be a lil personable with us even though she was literally runny back and forth taking care of everyone. I wish we were able to get her name.

We came across the Wet Lizard while on our cruise and were not disappointed. Despite being a more touristy spot on the pier, the food was reasonably priced and the portions were large. We ordered multiple drinks. We especially liked the fact that the drinks came in both a small and a large and that there were multiple blended drinks for the hot day. The restaurant is right on the water and had a gorgeous view. Highly recommend.

Decent food with a large drink selection. Service was a bit slow but not terrible. Respectable option for a tourist trap. We tried the Belizean sampler, tostones, fish and chips, beef burrito, and fried fish tacos along with a bucket of local beer and Piña coladas. Drinks were good and food was fun to try. Not a bad option. The fried fish tacos were the winner.
