From the moment I was picked up at the airport with a sign bearing my name (an unexpected and thoughtful touch) to the moment we checked out, the entire experience felt magical. I was celebrating my birthday, and everything about Fort George Hotel & Spa was perfect: the aroma walking in is hypnotizing, before being embossed in the chic and modern and calming aesthetic. The hotel’s minimalist, zen approach made it feel both luxurious and peaceful. The welcome Hibiscus drink was incredibly refreshing and set the tone for a relaxing stay.

Big thanks to Anthony Black for recommending the Fort George Hotel. The staff was outstanding, professional, accommodating, and so easy to interact with. I was seriously impressed with the service. The bed was incredibly comfortable, making it hard to get up in the morning. My body felt fully relaxed and at ease throughout the stay. The Welcome on the TV screen with my name on it was cute as well.

Everything during my stay was amazing, and the staff went above and beyond. They were always polite, helpful, and ready to suggest things to do and excursions to try. Special thanks to Kelsie who organized my birthday decor with my friend. The room was decorated with colorful balloons and a beautiful cake. It was so thoughtful, personalized, and an element of surprise as I walked in after breakfast. I am so grateful for bringing in my birthday with such detail.

For breakfast, I had the most delicious stack of three buttermilk pancakes topped with powdered sugar, served with maple syrup, chocolate morsels, whipped cream, banana, and berry compote, with added sides of bacon, rosemary potatoes, and hash browns. A refreshing glass of Bellini and fresh watermelon juice completed the meal. Everything I ate was great (chef's kiss).

Lunch was a Caribbean flatbread very flavorful and the crust had a delightful crisp. For dinner, the starter of the Smoked Salmon Mousse with the cracker and fresh bread was deliciodelicious. enjoyed the Queen Snapper Fillet with truffle mash, roasted root vegetables, and pico de gallo salsa, paired with a glass of Rosé. My friend had the pasta and lamb ribs paired with a red wine and said it was fantastic! I enjoyed talking to the staff and getting to know them which enhanced my experience in learning more about Belize and the culture. Thank you for the extensive hospitality to everyone I encountered, shared a smile, joke or a laugh with.

The Treehouse restaurant served up amazing drinks and food, all cooked to perfection bursting with flavor and beautifully plated. I had a Mojito, The Bussup, and loved the Painkiller. It was the standout cocktail for me. I tried the local favorite brews of: Belikin Stout and Land Shark. I also celebrated at the Treehouse by being serenaded with the Happy Birthday song, making a wish after blowing out my candles and cutting my birthday cake and indulging the delicious red velvet cake.

Kaylon introduced me to the Passion Fruit Michelada drink which was tart and had a spicy kick in a highball glass and I had the Limoncello shots they were smooth. Notable the Limoncello was his signature craft on the bar menu decorated with a lime with blue salt and guava. I think that is a great incorporation for the hotel for inclusion of the staff expertise and makes it exclusive.

The vibes were high, the pool was warm, and the waterfall was calming. Fort George Hotel & Spa has the perfect location as it is just a short walk to water taxis, vendors, and shops. I can’t recommend this place enough. I’m already planning my next trip back, this time with a bigger group so they can enjoy the same...

I stayed here twice with a large group of women. First was when we first arrived, second was for the last night before heading home. First night we were in the new section of the hotel. It was very nice and new. The second stay some of us were in the new section, some in the old section. The old section is just as described by other reviewers and the pictures are spot on. The old section’s room are nasty. While I didn’t see any bugs, there was a definite foul odor and I wasn’t comfortable walking on the floor with out shoes. When I asked the front desk if I could move, they told me that this room is what was booked and the rooms on the other side (new section of the hotel) cost more money. They were also conveniently “full” so I had to stay where I was. To boot, the front desk mixed up our reservations and double charged the gal who was organizing the entire trip and the hotel has now ghosted her. She’s out literally thousands of dollars and is in process of disputing the charge with her credit card. So be careful if you book this hotel and know you’re rolling the dice as to whether you’re getting a clean, lovely fresh room (as pictured on the hotel website) or a nasty, smelly old room (as pictured in other google posts).

Also, I tried the spa. And I say tried because I walked out halfway through my service. It was FREEZING and not in a good way. I shivered the whole time and when asked if they could turn up the heat all they could say is that we warned you it was going to be cold. To boot, there was no music to hide the breathing of my provider, the lights were super bright (felt like a sterile hospital room), and instead of flipping me over to scrub my back, the had my sit straight up (and why I was forced to use my abs while relaxing was beyond me). When my eye mask would fall off, the lady was quite put out helping me to get it back on. As soon as I had a break, I took the...

Mixed feelings on our stay. We arrived to our two room suite that was not up to standards. Pool towels from prior guest were still in our suite and the master bed sheets had several stains including some small yellowish stains and a makeup stain also several black stains which we were told were from their folding machine. After having our bed remade and prior guest towels removed I wrote a complaint to management requesting a discounted rate. Instead of receiving any written response to my request during our 4 night stay, management sent us a plate of mixed fruit along with an apology note. We enjoyed the rest of our stay and housekeeping did a great job after the initial arrival issues. Unfortunately when checking out of our room I was told by the front desk attendant that there was an extra adult charge on our room per night because our 17 year old was with us. I used logic to inquire how that made any sense at all since we had booked a two bedroom suite and paid a significant per night increased charge because of the size and sleeping capacity if that room already. The attendant was unkind and was unrelenting. While we waited outside for our shuttle back to the airport with our suitcases was the first time that management approached me and apologized and told me that there would be no extra adult charge and that it shouldn’t have ever been an issue or a charge in the first place. Vacation experiences should be enhanced by the quality, professionalism, cleanliness and care of the facilities and from the staff. I would have second thoughts about staying at the Ft George again based on how our experience was book ended upon arrival and...

In their excitement (rush?) to get guests in the door, The Fort George Hotel & Spa ends up with a bit of a Jekyll & Hyde experience: Jekyll: The "new side" is what you see in marketing pics, on the fresh website, and on their IG. There are even press releases and news articles about the transformation & grand opening. The restaurant is quite good, and opens early for those setting off on a tour or needing to catch a flight/water taxi. The gym is well equipped, and there are robes hanging in every closet. Everything on the "new side" is very photogenic. So photogenic, in fact, that you're willing to let the loud doors, oddly placed lightswitches, and poor soundproofing go unmentioned. Hyde: The "old side" was originally built in 1953, and is still very much in use. Robes are not provided, although guests are able to experience the waxy linens and thin towels of a bygone era. Walls are dark, restaurants stand empty--albeit still full of stacked chairs and empty condiment containers. Moldy smells emanate from dingy, damp rooms. Billing issues and reservation mix-ups get referred to a mysterious offsite entity. I experienced Jekyll while I was there, but my group members got big tastes of Hyde. I also watched several people I didn't know go from excited to perplexed to outraged as they checked in and realized they were getting the "old side" rooms instead of the "new side." It's really a bummer the new owners/management didn't close down all the Radisson rooms, get the processes situated, and then "expand" the property as renovation phases were completed.
