While vacationing in Placencia Belize my 3 kids WANTED pizza😂 Pizza...really...we were in Belize for crying out loud. But we had seen several places that served pizza so we did what any smart traveler does and asked the locals where to go for the best pizza. Unanimously, all the locals said Rick made the best pizza on the peninsula. So we HAD to order from Ricks Cafe. It was an easy walk from where we were staying. I loved how it looked, the smell was amazing, everyone dining was happy and as I walked up the porch steps I was greeted by a really nice man. Turns out that was Rick. And sweetie was right there to quietly greet us too. I immediately felt comfortable and got suggestions from Rick on favorite pizzas and made sure we could get it to go. We ended up ordering a pepperoni pizza, jaboroni (sp?) and the Greek. The Greek pizza doesn’t come with meat so we added half shrimp and half chicken. The pizzas took about 30 minutes. Everything is homemade from scratch using high quality fresh ingredients and made to order. We enjoyed our wait visiting with each other, Rick, Sweetie and watching the people walking down the Placencia Boardwalk. Before we knew it the pizzas were done and we were heading back to our rental house. We no more than one set the boxes down and everyone dove in. And oh my! SO DELICIOUS!! My absolute favorite was the Greek with added chicken and shrimp. SO GOOD and had a wonderful hint of spice that was unexpected and oh so good. I was impressed. If you are in Placencia and you need a pizza fix, go to Ricks! He also offers pastas and specials that all...
Read moreWe had read good reviews about Rick’s, but after eating there tonight, we came away disappointed. The appetizers are much better than the entrees. I ordered the lobster and corn soup. They were out of lobster, at 5:30 pm, and shrimp was used instead. Not a problem. The soup was delicious!!! My husband’s small portion of the Cobb salad was also very good. However, I intentionally asked if the pork in the Ruben sandwich was marinated in lime, as the menu said. It was not. The pork was so dry, I had to ask for bbq sauce to make it go down. The bread was over cooked and burned. I ALWAYS brag on great food. But this time, I felt the chef and manager needed to know how poorly this sandwich was. No one was interested. No apology. Nothing to try to improve our dinner. They didn’t care. For those reasons, I wouldn’t recommend this place. On a side note, the ambience was delightful and...
Read moreRick is a cool dude. My mates and I decided to stop and have lunch at this small little sidewalk restaurant. We sat and order pizza, quesadilla and burger; along with some cold soda. Eating together was a delight, the place is excellent and relaxing. It literally feels like your eating at your home porch. The menu is mostly filled with quick fast food at affordable prices, which is done efficiently with some great cooks. One of the best part of the place, was the sound of nice old school music coming from some speakers in the kitchen. I gotta say, Rick as out done himself in creating a nice little sidewalk joint in Placencia. The guy takes pride in what he does. Best of luck...
