This restaurant is on the premises of San Ignacio Resort Hotel, which can be found in the eastern outskirts of San Ignacio. Running W Steakhouse & Restaurant offers Belizean and International cuisines, as well as steak. This location serves food for breakfast, lunch, pool snacks and dinner.
My review might be a tad long because will be reviewing: Room and pool service and also dinner at the main dining room. So, bear with me =]
Room Service We were staying at the San Ignacio Resort and since we got there Saturday night tired from our trip, decided to order room service and enjoy our meal on our private terrace (overlooking the river). Food, no joke took over 1hr to come and we didn’t order anything too complicated (see below)
2 tortilla soup 2 hummus (which is almost a joke in a tiny little container usually used for side of ketchup!!) 1 pasta 1 skirt steak (completely cold) Eggplant fries (very mushy and was also cold)
Side notes: Hummus was tiny Guy who brought food stood there and watched me struggle to get everything off trays onto table, which resulted in me dropping the one plate. It took them another hour to bring back the 2nd hummus, which is inexplicable because it had zero cooking necessary. They never cleaned the plates that night, despite us asking him that they would when he brought the 2nd hummus platter back. Given we were staying next to jungle this is concerning for bugs/wildlife to appear
Pool service: I thought this was fine. The food we had was good, even if the service was slightly slow which I would just chalk up to island time
Dinner: The wine I ordered was good We ordered two porterhouse steaks, medium rare but on the rarer side. We specifically reminded the waitress twice after ordering, before she walked away to place order, that we did not want them over cooked. Both porterhouse steaks still came out overcooked. When we sent them back we were told they were out of porterhouse. I asked for Rib Eye to replace mine, since what I ordered was not available, but was told they could not give that to me for the same price. I specifically pointed out that this was bad customer service, and that the error was not on my side, but they refused to match the price. They did offer a 10% discount, and then a 15% discount. When doing the math it was only $5 more Belizean dollars to just give me the rib eye for the same price as the porterhouse. So for $2.50 USD they...
Read moreThe restaurant at the San Ignacio Resort is fantastic. The atmosphere is great. In the morning we could see many birds and monkeys from the beautiful view. The outside dining is very comfortable with ceiling fans running to keep you cool.
The vegetarian options are yummy. For dinner we had the stir fry with black bean sauce and tofu. The tofu is the fried puffed kind which is great. For breakfast we had huevos rancheros, really delicious. The coffee was really good too.
We stayed at the resort for 3 nights and had an early morning excursion to the ATM caves and asked our server what we could order to eat and leave within 30 minutes, he let us know we could get the granola parfait which was good, lots of small diced tropical fruit and toasted coconut. I'm glad we had that to fuel our journey.
The service was always top notch,...
Read moreWe stayed at San Ignacio resort so we ate at this restaurant several times (mostly breakfast and once for dinner) over the course of our 4 days at the resort. I did not have a meal at this restaurant that I didn’t like - everything was great, especially the green juice! The first night we arrived it was Thanksgiving night and they had a big Thanksgiving buffet which was very thoughtful since we missed the holiday at home. The dining area has a mixture of outdoor and indoor seats. The prices seemed a bit high for the area but the convenience within the hotel was worth it for the times we didn’t feel like venturing...
