Babka Blend & Bakery — Restaurant in City of Sarajevo

The place is cozy and conveniently located near the main train station. We decided to stop by after seeing so many positive reviews here, but unfortunately, our experience was quite disappointing.

Despite the restaurant not being particularly busy, the service was slow. When we tried to order certain items, the waiter told us they would take a long time to prepare. If some dishes are such a hassle to make, why include them on the menu at all?

We ended up ordering something else that was supposedly quicker to prepare (the fit plate), but even then, the wait was longer than expected. When my dish finally arrived, I was surprised to find that the ingredients didn’t match the description on the menu. It was supposed to come with tomatoes, arugula, and avocado, but instead, I received cabbage and cucumbers.

I politely pointed this out to the waiter, who said he’d check with the kitchen. Several minutes passed, and no one followed up. My plate sat untouched while I waited for someone to address the issue. Eventually, frustrated, I asked my husband to speak with the staff. Their response? “The avocados weren’t ripe, so we gave you extra mozzarella instead.”

This was never communicated to us beforehand, and no one asked if we were okay with the substitution. I didn’t want to eat something I hadn’t ordered, so we asked for a refund. They refused, offering only to pack up the food instead. It was not about the money, it was about the principle.

Cozy and such a cute place to have your breakfast or coffee or enjoy the amazing pastries and cakes they have available. Super friendly staff and the cook is just wow, super talented. I was amazed by the fact that they have gf bagels available as NYC bagels never responded to any of my messages. I absolutely love this place and would recommend it to anyone, you can even bring your laptop and work, all while enjoying your coffee, breakfast or even cake if you are a cake person. I was here August 13th with a group that was prearranged. It was our first visit and it was an excellent experience. The food was delicious, well presented and arrived in larger servings. The two servers were very good, too: professional and knowledgeable. We sat on the main level but there’s room on patio and an upstairs level, too!
