Bon appetit — Restaurant in City of Sarajevo

Bon Appetit is THE hidden gem of Sarajevo’s food scene. While most restaurants deliver same old boring menus (chicken in mushroom sauce, rump steak or seabass with veggies), Chef Emir is way ahead, setting standards with this international mix of a a-la-carte menu or even 5 or 7 tasting menu courses (plenty of wine to pair!). I haven’t been to this intimate, charming, romantic, cozy restaurant in 4 years and boy was I glad to return after having tasted most of what Bosnia’s capital has to offer. I was pleasantly surprised with the main course items such as moroccan chicken, wagyu A5 beef, duck breast, ossobuco, Parisian entrecote, slowly cooked lamb, and especially the Rabo de Toro (bull’s tail stew) but with a Bosnian home made “pasta” while my wife enjoyed the wild fish catch of the day. We also shared the delicious mozzarella in hazelnut as a starter (the tuna is recommended too). Everything you order is a tasty gastronomique master piece and you can check out the menu on instagram with the dish photos. solid menu concept with not too many dishes, but covered for all tastes. the menu is a little different from most restaurants in the city. On the other hand, the portions are, in my opinion, too small for the prices they are sold for. The preparation of the dish itself could be better (the chicken salad was basic without spices and dressing, only chopped vegetables and cold chicken), the semifreddo dessert is not even similar to the original one, because truffle dominates, which it shouldn't, and the portion is ridiculously small. After returning for a second time it was further obvious how special this place was. For such a small restaurant, to have such apparent pride and joy with the service they provide, it is wonderful. The staff are very passionate about their work and that reflects in the food they make and service they provide. With a fun yet relaxed atmosphere, it is perfect for anything from a date to a group outing.
