I’ve never been to Thailand but I have spent the last 30 years eating at everyThai restaurant I came across in NYC. I really love the cuisine. If you feel the same it’s best best to skip Uaithai.or just stick with the drinks. As others have said it’s a charming plac, super friendly staff, and the garden views are gorgeous. The food we had though was quite bad. We had. a Chicken Larb and a Green Papaya Salad. Both were basically just sour. The salad had marinated papaya instead of cut fresh which was strange - and again Sour - but not with Lime as you would imagine - it seemed to be vinegar. It had none of the complex combination of sweet, sour, pungent, fish sauce you would expect. The Larb was more of the same - just painfully sour and flat. Unusually the chicken was cubed not ground and was tough and sour - again no combination of flavors.
Maybe we picked exactly the wrong dishes on a late Wednesday afternoon - but I wouldn’t be optimistic - especially at R$200 for 2. I think the Chef needs to get one of David Thompson’s cookbooks - work thru some of the recipes there. Then they will start to get it.

The other unique dish we had was shrimp wrapped in dry ramen, fried and served with sweet and sour yogurt sauce, cherry tomato confit. Finished with tare cachaça reduction and chives.
The Papaya salad was equally simple...

Our dinner party consisted of 8 people.
Our service suffered a delay of 75 minutes (one hour and fifteen minutes) between the arrival of the first meal at one end of the table and the last meal at the other end of the same table. Had those two waited for food to arrive for all at the table the meal would have been completely cold. Disrespectful service.
The meals arrived lacking flavor and any resemblance of fusion. Sorry, throwing pork rinds on a pasta plate doesnt make a Thai-Mineiro Fusion.
Any quick "chapa" meal in town offers more flavor and certainly more service than this prude establishment.
If you've ever eaten a zesty Thai meal please avoid this place. It could ruin the Thai cuisine for...
