I am an American who lives in Brasil 6 months a year. One of the best gems in Brasil is Bonde Boca in Santa Teresa. This restaurant puts Michelin restaurants to shame.
Yesterday, we were a party of 3. We started with the pastels - carne and quiejo with sundried tomatoes. Fantastic! I ordered the chicken dish that was the most delicious dish. It was so tender and flavorful and served in this amazing orange yogurt sauce. It is hands down the best chicken dish I have ever eaten. The others at our table had the ratatouille with vegetables and the shrimp bobo and they absolutely loved it. The flavors used, the way the dish is prepared, the presentation of the food on the plate is something I have rarely seen and I have been blessed to travel all over the world.
And if you are into hot pepper sauce, like I am - they have a homemade pepper sauce that will make you cry. It is very hot but so flavorful.
The view is amazing. The restaurant sits atop and overlooks the neighborhood. You can embrace the charm and the beauty of the local community.
But most importantly, the staff is more than just great. They are so friendly and helpful with anything. I wish I knew all their names so I can say their names here. Chef Felipe (who speaks English better than me) was so attentive, made sure everything was perfect for everyone in the restaurant. He is such a wonderful and kind person.
Whether you are a tourist or a local, please go enjoy a meal here - you will NOT be...
Read moreWow what an excellent experience and restaurant! The view is absolutely magnificent, my chicken dish with yogurt sauce and beet salad, along with everything else it came with was so juicy and perfectly seasoned! The special hot sauce was spicy and flavorful and went very well with my chicken. One of the thicker pieces of chicken were undercooked, but the chef and owner Felipe promptly took care of it, cooked it again, and gave me more of the yogurt sauce also don’t miss the passion fruit mousse!! Filipe and the service here is the best- so kind and friendly and charming, the location and view was amazing, the food was all delicious. Can’t recommend enough!! You gotta check it out- especially in the afternoon when the sun is going down we went at 3, there was no wait, and it...
