Calabrezza Pizzaria — Restaurant in Região Geográfica Imediata do Rio de Janeiro

We ordered a pizza to our hotel room the night before and it was so good we decided to see it for ourselves.

It is a very cute Italian style restaurant in an old building that has recently been nicely remodeled. The open kitchen with stainless was a nice touch. We brought our own wine but they had many choices.

The wood fired pizza is out of this world. We tried the Margarita Pizza and the basil, cherry tomatoes and cheese were mouthwatering fresh. We also tried their famous Calabrezza pizza (featuring their homemade pepperoni). Amazing! Their dough is really good as well. We finished off with the chocolate and strawberry pizza which was fantastic. We were not tired of pizza and pizza desserts after two nights of it which says it is something special.

Our server Braga was really the nicest person ever. As soon as one of or plates were empty he was there with a smile to put a new slice on our plates. I finished my last bite and tried to quickly put a piece on my plate before he got there and almost didn’t make it before he rushed over. I have never experienced such great service in a pizza restaurant and I eat out a lot.

Uma grata surpresa no meio da Lapa. Eu só não dei 5 estrelas para a pizza porque não dá pra dizer que é a melhor que eu já comi, mas sem dúvidas eles sabem o que estão fazendo, e quando é bom, não tem melhor. De forma nenhuma deixou a desejar.

Talvez o meu erro tenha sido pedir calabresa e Marguerita, então existe aí uma competição de tempo de forno entre as duas, mas os tomates da Marguerita estavam uma doçura, o manjericão bonito e fresco. A Pizza de calabresa também estava deliciosa, mas como eu disse, se a calabresa tivesse assado mais, talvez tivesse prejudicado a Marguerita. A massa estava leve e saborosa. O recheio de catupiri na borda não tem erro.

A atendente certamente faz aquela atividade como renda extra, mas espero que ela seja muito bem compensada, porque tamanha elegância, atenção e profissionalismo não é comum no Rio de Janeiro, principalmente na Lapa. Lamento não lembrar o seu nome.

Although I think many restaurant dishes are overpriced in Brazil, this pizza is worth it, considering all the other places that charge the same or more can't match the quality here. Excellent...
