If you’re in Rio and looking for an unforgettable dining experience that beautifully intertwines African-inspired cuisine, exquisite cocktails, and exceptional service, Dida Bar e Restaurante is the place to be!
We were blown away by the authenticity and flavors of the dishes we ordered: Calulu de Carne Seca (Angola): A rich and hearty dish made with dried meat, stewed vegetables like okra and eggplant, and accompanied by funge (fufu). The flavors were deep and comforting, showcasing the best of Angolan cuisine. Caril de Camarão (Moçambique): This Mozambican shrimp curry was a masterpiece, served in a hollowed-out pineapple. The curry sauce, made with coconut milk, paprika, cumin, and palm oil, was delightfully aromatic and perfectly balanced. Served with rice, it was both visually stunning and delicious.
The cocktails were just as exceptional as the food: • Zanzibar: A strikingly beautiful blue drink that was refreshing and perfectly mixed. • Flor de Goiabeira: This tropical guava-based cocktail was fruity, vibrant, and wonderfully flavorful.
We were served by Carlos, whose warm and attentive service elevated the entire experience. Carlos ensured that everything was perfect and went out of his way to make us feel welcome.
A great feature of this restaurant is their use of tablets for ordering. If you don’t speak Portuguese, the tablet interface makes it incredibly easy to browse the menu and select your dishes and drinks without any stress.
The restaurant goes beyond just food and drinks—it immerses you in African culture. Even the restrooms are thoughtfully decorated with Adinkra symbols, adding a layer of cultural significance that enhances the dining experience.

Visitamos o estabelecimento no dia 15/02/25. Vou direto ao ponto, recomendo fortemente que todas as pessoas que vivem ou que visitam a cidade do Rio de Janeiro conheçam esse lugar super agradável e patrimônio imaterial. Quero parabenizar todas as pessoas envolvidas no cuidado e preparo dos serviços, em destaque fomos recepcionados pelo José que nos levou até a área externa com as mesas disponíveis para a nossa acomodação, a casa estava recebendo um evento particular com 50 convidados que havia reservado o salão refrigerado, mas o clima da área externa não era tão quente, tinha até uma corrente de ar no ponto em que ficamos. Solicitamos o cardápio que veio no formato digital nos sendo entregue o tablet da casa, o atendimento ficou por conta do simpático e cordial Taylor, pedimos a bebida que veio prontamente e bem gelada e nossas entradas tiveram um tempo de entrega um pouco acima da média devido a alta demanda do evento, mas isso foi superado quando o pedido dos pratos principais foi muito eficiente. Falando dos pratos, foi satisfatório para nossa refeição, degustei o Kruger que estava macio e delicioso, pretendo repetir quando voltar, mas vou pedir o molho a parte pois o grau de pimenta, para mim, estava bem acentuado. Ah... das entradas a que mais se destacou foi o cigarrete de queijo coalho, recomendação de Taylor. Tudo estava devidamente organizado, a entrada é rampada, dando acessibilidade aos cadeirantes mas não consegui identificar o toalete para esse público. Relação custo X...

We came as soon as it opened at around 4pm so unsurprisingly, we were the only ones there. We sat outside which had a lovely atmosphere with the lights and canopy overhead, everything nicely spaced and not packed in. The music was a nice upbeat instrumental beat without it being overbearing.
You know the food is good when even the server asks to take a photo of it! And it tasted as good as it looked too. The flavours were insane, the portion sizing perfect for the two of us and everything complimented one another.
The service was friendly and efficient, always being attentive and polite.
All in all, I would definitely recommend this...
