I would give it more stars if I could just for the sheer fact that the service was amazing. The gentleman who was our waiter was the most kind and honest man. As tourists that don’t speak the language, it’s easy to get taken advantage of. He made us feel comfortable and when we didn’t know their portion size and wanted to order extra things, he let us know that what we had gotten was very large and to wait to order something else. He was right. The food came out delicious and cooked to order and hot and when he saw we ate the tomato salad so quick, he immediately brought out more. He hovered around our area in case we needed anything. With his Portuguese and my Spanish he let me know that it was safe for us to walk through town to the Portuguese reading room if we take a certain route and he repeated the route using his hands 3-4 times to make sure we understand. After soaking in the colors and energy of the staircase, I stumbled upon this charming spot and I’m so glad I did! From the moment I walked in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere made me feel right at home. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and passionate about the food they serve. Their recommendations were spot-on and added a personal touch to the experience. The food itself was a true celebration of Brazilian flavors. I tried a few local dishes, and every bite was bursting with authenticity and soul. The ingredients were fresh, the presentation was lovely, and the portion sizes were generous. DENÚNCIA DE AGRESSÃO À MULHER NO BAR OS XIMENES, LAPA - RJ. "Era entre 7h e 8h da manhã de Domingo, dia 28 de Junho de 2015. Eu passei a noite trabalhando e depois fui beber com amigas pela Lapa. Decidi usar algum banheiro antes de ir embora, e como já havia consumido no bar "Os Ximenes" mais cedo, decidi utilizar o banheiro de lá. Quando me aproximei do estabelecimento, percebi que apesar do salão vazio e a ausência de funcionários, o balcão ao lado estava atendendo. Como não vi ninguém no salão e estava muito apertada fui direto pro banheiro. Assim que sai do banheiro dei de cara com um homem de cerca de 1,70m, com traços nordestinos e forte. Ele usava calça jeans, camisa branca com uma estampa e um boné pra frente. Obviamente esse homem era um funcionário do bar. Imediatamente ele me abordou me xingando. Me chamando de puta, perguntou se eu não tinha visto que o banheiro estava fechado e era cobrado. Automaticamente respondi xingando de volta. O homem então agarrou um dos meus braços e continuou a agressão verbal. A essa altura ele já estava me machucando e eis a informação que não pretendo sonegar: eu reagi. Então o homem me socou o rosto. Por sorte e pela minha resistência física não cai. Nesse momento, após ter bebido e sido agredida, fiquei completamente desorientada. Comecei a gritar desesperadamente. Dois outros funcionários do bar se aproximaram e me imobilizaram para que o espancamento continuasse. E continuou. Consegui me soltar e a única coisa que consegui pensar foi em quebrar coisas para chamar a atenção de quem passava pela rua. Lembro que nesse momento não havia ninguém dentro do bar e eu só pensava que eles provavelmente me estuprariam e/ou me matariam ali dentro. Enquanto quebrava alguns vidros os funcionários continuavam a me bater.

Decidi denunciar publicamente o ocorrido principalmente como forma de alertar as mulheres que frequentam o local. Mais que isso, para também deixar um recado: nós mulheres precisamos nos organizar para combater o machismo. A reação e a autodefesa são e sempre serão legítimas. Mas o ódio e a depressão que nos tomam podem ser substituídos por acolhimento e luta. Nossa maior arma contra a violência é a nossa sobrevivência, nossas vidas, o nosso grito, a nossa união, nossos corpos livres. Sociedade, por que nos culpam pela opressão que sofremos? Por que nos separam e diferenciam para que fiquemos umas contra as outras? Por que justificam absurdamente as brutalidades que praticam contra nós por fazer coisas "normais" que qualquer ser tem direito? Temos direito ao lazer. Temos direito ao sexo.
