Happy Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Sofia City

An Americanised fast eatery, not an haute cuisine restaurant, but with really fast and energetic service and mall style interior (except perhaps, singularly, the ambience of Happy in Lozenetz where the interior is somewhat more presentable). The food is mostly from frozen, fast and pre-prepared, but acceptable especially for the price, and will not disappoint.

A word of caution that I feel compelled to add concerning all of the country, is that Bulgarians consider smoking the norm and conversely, non-smokers are merely placed a few metres away. Sitting outside in the fresh air is ludicrous as almost everywhere is under clouds of smoke. We were with a child, and wherever we had been accommodated, the reasoning after requesting better placement was that my daughter was 'safe' because she was in the open, despite being within visual and respiratory range of all smokers. This shocking revelation is one big dent throughout our stay...

We arrived at the restaurant earlier than our reservation time. The staff told us there were no tables available yet and that we would have to wait. We asked if we could wait at the bar or sit somewhere in the meantime, but they said no.

When we arrived, there were three empty tables outside. We decided to order takeout instead and eat at home. While waiting for our order, we noticed that those tables — and later even a fourth one — stayed empty the whole time. We eventually sat at one of them while waiting for our food (about 20–30 minutes), and during the 40 minutes in total that we were there, no one ever sat at those tables.

I have been lots of times in this restaurant, and didn’t expect something like this to happen.. So i was at lunch with my family and after we finished eating a waitress gave us a survey and the first question was about the service. I gave an 8 out of 10 which was meant for another waiter that served us earlier. She looked at me and said ,, Im sorry but whats wrong with my service?!” or something like that I said this wasn’t meant for her but she said this survey was about her. I apologized and gave her a 10. Honestly this was pretty unexpected for her to attack me like that meanwhile I’m still a minor and easily get hurt.
