This is one of those places when you read. They have been voted "Best breakfast" in Abbotsford you just need to check it out.
Sorta tucked into a little alley just off George Ferguson, Ann Marie's is a pretty cooly decorated 50s style Cafe complete with black and white checkered floor tiles and red vinyl booth seating as well as alot of car decor on the walls.
When we arrived the Cafe wasn't full, but was pretty busy even so we got a seat right away and the waitress was super friendly and took our drink order, however didn't give us a menu.
For first timers it was a bit confusing until you notice the QR code in the center of the table which will link to the menu, I did notice a few customers with standard menus so I guess if that's your preference you might need to request one (not sure) either way not a huge deal.
I ordered a standard breakfast of a couple eggs over hard (like my eggs very dead) ham and potatoes with a side of sourdough bread.
My wife ordered the stack em up pancakes, with two sausages, two bacon, two eggs, and two huge pancakes 🥞.
Was it the best breakfast in Abbotsford? I'm not sure. Honestly, I find breakfast offerings from Cafe to Cafe to be pretty similar. But I can tell you the portions were generous for the price, and we'll seasoned and tasty so no complaints. My wife actually have to pass half her breakfast over to me due to the size of her pancakes they are large and filling.
The topper to Ann Marie's was the service we received from our waitress. Without getting into too much detail I had surgery on my shoulder and while dining it was causing me pain, which made me wince and rub my shoulder and chest, our waitress noticed my discomfort and came to our table to ensure I was OK and not suffering from some sort of medical emergency, just a small gesture but very appreciative of...
Read moreIt’s too bad when a restaurant gets so popular that the owner forgets about proper service. Came in for breakfast today, after being seated getting a coffee seemed to take forever, was not offered a menu - guess still in the Covid plan of use the scan code on the table not sure but I prefer a regular menu vs looking at a small screen. Sipping my coffee and reading a few pages of my book - the owner came by to take my order. Received my breakfast as ordered - but took no notice my coffee was empty and went on to another table to chat with some regulars. my coffee empty servers passing by me by forgetting to check if I wanted more - if you have to ask it’s a failure in service. Finally someone came by with coffee and I finished my breakfast. A few moments when I was done the server asked if I wanted anything else, I said no and in less than 3 min the owner was standing there with the bill and interact machine. She asked me if anything else and I said no. she asked for payment options. I was just in the middle of a passage I had been reading so was a bit surprised at the urgency. She mentioned she wanted me clear in their system. So I paid - no tip as that needs to be earned not expected. This is the 3rd time I have been here and felt rushed to leave by the owner. Not impressed at all. I was not occupying a table from anyone waiting, I just wanted to enjoy my 2nd cup of coffee and finish up the chapter I was reading. I just came back from Vegas, perhaps this owner need to visit to get some tips on proper service. Perhaps you don’t care about one customer comments as you are too busy - but you should because I certainly won’t recommend your cafe to anyone and that is...
Read moreI went on a Sunday afternoon and there were no lineups or waiting like the other reviews have said, in fact there were only about 3 other tables that were occupied (mind you it did start filling up towards the end of our visit). My daughter wanted a "50's style" lunch for her 14th bday and this is the only one I could find (we only just moved out this way). I had read the reviews and the majority were quite positive. I had expected a huge lineup like it had said, so I was nicely surprised when there wasn't one. As a result of no lineup, our food was delivered quite quickly and it was sooo delicious! I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with fries and my daughter ordered a chicken Ceasar salad wrap with fries and she's a really picky eater but she really enjoyed it! We both had to take the rest home with us since the portions were quite big, which was great to have for later. We spent about $30 - $40 on food and with drinks our total equalled $55 which is much more cheaper than other diners. Our server Shania was an absolute GEM! She needs a raise! She's sweet, friendly and very helpful, always making sure we were okay and making sure my coffee cup was full, which I can't say for many other places! I definitely recommend this place and we will be going back very soon with the whole fam! For the ppl complaining about waiting in lineup for a long time but noticing there were empty tables inside, those are most likely reserved for the ppl who were smart enough to save a spot on their phone before they got there. I suggest doing that so you'll have a table waiting for you otherwise you'll be whining about the lineup as...
