The food was hot and absolutely delicious. However, there were 4-5 tables served before us that came after us. When I brought this up to the server the first time, she threw her hands up in a motion that she didn't know why it was happening and just walked away. She came back later and assured me the food was coming right up. I questioned again why 4-5 tables got served before us (I brought up that a table that was seated at the same time as us had already eaten and left) and she told me it was because "omlettes take longer to cook." That's not a good excuse. She clearly forgot or just didn't put our in order in a timely matter and did other things first (they were fully seated and only two servers).
I don't live in Abbotsford, I was just a passerbyer. I would recommend because the food really is 'all that,' but the service, while pleasant, is hit or miss. It's a good spot but the service, in my opinion, needs a complete overall. It's inconsistent and a gamble to eat there.
I also take it personally that the...
Read moreWent on a Sunday mid-morning and didn't have to wait for a table which was great after reading some of the other reviews!
We ordered the Pacific Skillet (potatoes, tomatoes, spinach, egg, hollandaise) and a basic breakfast (egg, sausage, bacon, toast, pancakes). Everything was cooked nicely, but we weren't blown away - standouts were the hollandaise and the pancakes which were really pale and fluffy.
The atmosphere is really casual and the service was standard in terms of speed. Our server was very polite and friendly.
We felt the plates were a little on the small side for the price. Also wish there were more fresh baked goods to buy (everything in the cooler was individually boxed up and didn't look fresh, there were only a few things left.)
Overall, it's a nice little place to visit with people but it's not somewhere we would eat regularly based on price. That being said, we are planning to come back to try...
Read moreThis is a fantastic place to go frequent at. I wish I knew about it sooner, since this cafe has been down the street from downtown for 10 years. When I got there, I got a table right away and was offered some beverages. The coffee was pretty great, tasting some notes of orange pekoe, yet it was still good coffee. I had the Westcoast Benedict and I really enjoyed it. The benedicts were delicious; the bacon was succulent; the hollandaise sauce was overwhelmingly luscious. Even the hashbrowns were great on their own. I also had their Mennonite Poutine, which is highly recommended by their waitresses. The Schamaunt Fat sauce is very unique in taste and the Rempel's sausage is so good that I would want to buy the meat myself. The inside of the place has a modern look to it and feels very welcoming, despite the unsightly location. Common Place is still a highly recommended place to eat for morning and...
