Be prepared for disappointment.
And be careful of the front steps!
After being turned away now on two consecutive occasions due to being at full capacity be fore warned. The COVID capacity for the facility is 105, which admittedly is actually quite high, no complaints.
Unfortunately PlayAbby "Management" has been booking dual birthday parties per time slot, which they automatically assign to be 25 people, thus dropping the walk in capacity space down to 50 people MAX, yep less than half.
Walk in spots are seperate from birthday slots, so on both occasions even though there was less than 50 people total in the facility we were turned away. Our party of 3 watched 12 people leave, but since they were part of a party the facility is still "at capacity".
There is no offer to call you from the parking lot, no ability to reserve a spot, and for us a 30 minute drive in has been disappointing.
Our family completely understands the COVID measures, however PlayAbby policy has prioritized profits over access for the general public, as there is a significant cost for birthday parties.
After requesting to speak to management to express my concerns with this policy, I was informed by the staff, and I quote "There is no manager", "We don't have a manager". I was finally provided a generic email address with no name to address the concerns to.
Remember this is where your children are playing...with no manager.
While trying to explain the disappointment to my children, I witnessed a young father carrying his 1-2 year old exit PlayAbby. He used the stairs directly at the entrance to PlayAbby and in horror I watched as he flew down the stairs while slipping on the yellow "safety paint". The wrong kind of paint was used on the concrete stairs, so instead of improving safety, the paint turns the front steps into a death trap by taking away the grip from the concrete and turning it into something as slippery as ice. Luckily the child wasn't hurt. This dad however had a concussion and was in shock. PlayAbby staff had no idea what a cold pack was while we asked for a first aid kit.
Overall this experience has ensured that we won't come back.
To the owners Cat and Arron, your facility's policies are bogus, your service is far below acceptable, the safety of your facility to even get to the front door is dangerous and the handling by your staff is downright manipulative. I know this isn't the front of house staffs fault, this is bad management stacked on top of trained dishonesty. Even your staff expressed to us that they have put forward similar complaints to you, but you haven't yet been interested...
Read moreNever experienced such terrible hospitality, especially at a place for children. We arrived at 930 and the place was ice cold. I overheard another mom ask if the heat could be turned up (all the children inside so far were under 3) and they said they don’t turn the heat on because the kids will warm up. 20 mins later the kids are freezing so we again went and kindly asked to please turn on the heat. The kids can’t play in their snow jackets. Finally they turned on the heat. We were meeting as a family to play together, so we pushed 3 tables together so we can be together. 7 adults and 7 children would like to sit together and be able to watch belongings. 3 hours into our time, an employee came over to our table and told us we needed to break it a part and we aren’t allowed to push the tables together. Considering we had been sitting this way already for 3 hours without issue or warning we asked if it was ok to stay together and they said “we don’t allow that”. When asked if it was a Covid rule and how far apart the tables have to be she replied that “you wouldn’t move tables in a restaurant so we don’t do that here”. I explained at a restaurant you do move tables together so that a group can sit together, like a reservation and she said “ya for a reservation”.
She pulled our tables a part, but we’re allowed to huddle all chairs around one table. It made no sense.
The place was not crowded and there were only 3 other families in the facility. I understand rules, however this made no sense to rip us apart at the tail end of our visit. I am shocked at the lack of customer service and would not be recommending this a place to bring your family to have...
Read moreWent last week, walked in, got warned by anouther parent and walked right back out. Came into let my 19 month old play, walked in and waited while 2 staff members were chatting to each other. A parent came out of their baby area and asked if I paid, when I said no she pointed toward the baby area that I could see had a layer of gunk on the floor. I then looked on the floor in front of me and the same dirt was there too. It was 9:30am and, aside from the parent I talked too, there was 2 other parents with children there. No excuse for them to be that gross at any time let alone 30 mons after you open. Plus the fact the 2 staff members were chatting instead if getting me checked in and/or cleaning makes it so much worse! I have also been warned not too host playgroups there because of these issues but decided to judge for myself and got my answer before I even stepped into the play area. This in stark contrast to Play Abby Langley (which ive been too twice now) which is stunningly clean each time ive gone in and ive seen staff repeatedly wiping and cleaning when im there. I don't think I've been there and not seen staff repeatedly cleaning. IMO Play Abby Abbotsford should shut down, update their facility, retrain their staff and reopen again. Its probably the only way to salvage it. If you want high quality staff and facilities Play Abby Langley is where my playground will meet...
