Dosa Club — Restaurant in Abbotsford

I've tried this place a couple of times and the food is good. Customer service has been ok, not what it should be. That I blame on management for lack of training. Brings me to why the 1 star. I went for the 3rd time to this place, first time for husband. We were 3 of us and were waiting for 3 other people to join us. Time was 4.45pm on a Friday. My husband noticed it was happy hour, decided to order a Heineken, 14oz as mentioned in the menu. The server kept asking "does that mean 1 glass?" Asked the same question at least 3 times. Then she came back and said oh actually it's actually not happy hour. It's from 6-9pm. Showed her the menu where it said 3-6pm and 9:30 to close. She said ok let me talk to the manager. Comes back and says oh actually the happy hour is only on Mon, Tues and Wed. Nothing mentioned in the menu. We told the server it's not her fault, just the way this place is being run, not honoring what's written. Where we were gonna spend $150 on food, $2 wouldn't have broken the bank, it's the principle. The manager didnt deign to speak with us. We decided just to have the drinks and have dinner elsewhere and told our family who was joining to not come. Then they bring the beer, that wasn't even Heineken and the coffee I ordered had so much 'malai' in it that it was undrinkable. We were floored by the fact that a restaurant that looks like it does and charges prices the way it does would lie about happy hour and $2 less a drink. And have us believe that there's no happy hour on Friday or Saturday. 🤦‍♀️ The servers felt bad that we weren't going to stay for dinner but we did tell them it's not them but the way the place is being run and that we will not be patrons at a place that doesn't honor what they print...

Today, my family and I dined at this restaurant, and unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience with the service. When the manager, whom I assume was the manager, asked us about our meal, we informed her that our children's food was too spicy despite requesting it to be mild. However, she didn't take any action or seem to actually care. Additionally, when our younger child complained about the quality of the orange juice, the manager simply asked if we wanted anything else without addressing our concerns. Despite appearing attentive, she didn't address our issues.

Moreover, we were charged for certain items that we didn’t even order and when I requested a receipt, they admitted their mistake and offered to refund $10. It felt unjust that I had already paid a tip, and they were only refunding me after I pointed out their error.

Furthermore, we ordered juice that wasn't even listed on the menu, yet we were charged $5.99 for it, which was the same juice our child complained about. This lack of transparency makes it easy for them to charge whatever they want.

Overall, I was truly disappointed by the lack of service and unprofessional behavior we experienced...

Update: Jan 26 2024 our server Chandan was great and suggested dishes but we are pretty familiar eith indian cuisine. We had Panneer Bhaji Dosa and Coconut Chucken Curry witj a Samosa Chat to start. Everything was excellent again we will be back and continue recomending to friends. Thanks Chandan and team for the great dinning experience.

Went here for the first time and we all loved it. we eat Indian often, I mean we are in a community with a large Indian population and there are great places to eat. Maybe a few of them have this specific or that specific dish better but everything here was great..... and not many places have Dosa andnthe Dosa was excellent. Seen a Google reviewed by someone that rated it one star and then were upset because they had a chunk of potatoe not wholly mashed in there stuffed Dosa. So petty making it seem like it was in the Dosa itself, not the case at all. Stuffed Dosa filling can have small chucks in it, it gives texture. We will be back and have already been recommending to friends. Thanks Dosa Club
