** NOTE: Their replies to reviews show how little they care. "You can text us at this number." Not, "We want to make this right. Here's your delivery fee refunded. We will speak to the people at the store about their lack of professionalism." What a joke!!!
My family and I purchased two chairs and a couch in the last two months from the Ashley store in Abbotsford. The delivery people (three different sets) were all super professional and an absolute pleasure to deal with. They're a credit to the company. We also really like our furniture.
However, the experience within the Abbotsford store itself had several issues. I won't name names, but one salesman with a huge, pretentious watch, was not the best to deal with. He was like a used car salesman. As soon as the purchase was made, he was very clear that he wanted nothing more to do with us. The manager also didn't care when we reported an issue with one of our items. The same salesman later circled like a shark around two friends of mine who came in to shop, to the point where they left without making a purchase. He brought over the manager for some reason, and he also pressured them. The whole exchanged made them so uncomfortable! Ashley lost a sale of over $4000, as they shopped elsewhere.
When we came in to buy a second chair, we dealt with a young lady who didn't have a clue - not how to use the tablets they have, not what the colour burgundy was - nothing. She forgot to charge me for delivery and had to call me to add it on later. There was a second young lady at the counter who was super unprofessional, in both her appearance and her manner (condescending). If I hadn't wanted the chair so much, I would have left.
Worst of all, when I came back to pay for the delivery fee, a salesman at the front counter was on a zoom call, loudly sharing private information about employees where my friend and I could clearly hear! He talked about one person's mental health, and how another had rescinded their resignation. When we pointed out how unprofessional he was behaving, he was very condescending to us. We were appalled - he should not be sharing private information where customers can hear it! Imagine if your personal information was shared in front of strangers!
This store has some major issues with personnel, and if I were to need furniture in the future, I might consider Ashley, but not from this location. A delivery person told us that Ashley used to be a family owned business, and now it has been sold and is corporate. The level of customer service and pride in their product and customer experience has...

We’ve purchased a lot of furniture over the years, but we’ve NEVER had an experience as poor as this one. On September 15/24, we bought a couch and two chairs and were assured they were all in stock. However, the day before delivery, we were informed that one chair was "suddenly" missing. Annoying, but we accepted it. As of today (October 07/2024) we still do not have a date to receive the second chair we purchased.
On top of that, they “forgot” to apply the 5% discount for using their in-store credit. When we went back to address it, the manager acted like giving us the discount (which we were owed!) was some favor to compensate for our troubles.
The couch was fine, but the chair we received is a nightmare. It’s so uncomfortable that I literally can’t sit in it. Which was not the case with the one we tried in the showroom.
The foam in the back is so high it pushes you forward, almost out of the chair. The recliner tab is buried so far between the seat cushions that you must dig to find it. Once you do manage to open the recliner, getting it to close is an ordeal. It pops back up and won’t lock. After wrestling with it for a few minutes, it might stay closed. Worse still, if you sit in the chair, it can suddenly spring back into the reclining position because it wasn’t properly locked. We immediately started the claim process because the chair was that bad. Since then, it’s been countless calls and emails to “customer service” (which, honestly, doesn’t seem to exist), and two trips from Rosedale to Abbotsford just to talk to someone in person. Their proposed solution? Wait 2-3 weeks for “parts” for the chair and if we can’t install them ourselves, then they will eventually send someone out. But what parts are they even sending? The whole chair needs to be repaired!
So now we’re looking at a 6-8 week wait for a chair we spent nearly $1,000 on but can’t even use. We asked for the chair to be replaced given all the issues, but they flat-out refused.
We understand things happen and somethings aren’t perfect, we were just looking for some good old fashion “customer service”
If you’re thinking about buying from Ashley Furniture, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. This has been a terrible experience from start to (hopefully soon) finish.
ASHLEY’S - Please do not reply to this with your auto reply “please contact customer care” because we did and there is no customer service.

Read moreWent into Ashley's and purchased a couch. Was told by the manager Ryan that I would be able to pick it up on the 31st of December. I emphasized that I would be renting a U-Haul to pick up this couch along with moving all my other things into my new apartment.I was assured that I would be able to pick it up December 31st. I received an email saying that the warehouse was closed on Dec 31 (how they didn't know that their Warehouse would be closed was beyond me ) Spoke to a manager by the name of Ross. We are black and he tried to make it seem like he was all cool with black people calling himself an oreo cookie and making black stereotype jokes. We explained the situation with regards to the email and told them that we would be willing to keep the couch if they paid for the delivery, which was $160. Ross said that they would have to go through a whole bunch of hoops to get approval to waive the removal cost of the delivery but he was make sure we could pick it up on Jan 3 or 4. This wouldn't work for us. Once we told him that we no longer wanted the couch and wanted a full refund, Ross got extremely cold and somewhat rude and tried to intimidate us by saying he wouldn't be able to give us a full refund and he'll have "to see" what he could do. Unfortunately for him notes were made that they would give us 100% refund as long as we cancelled the order before January 3rd. It is now January 11th and I still have not been able to get my refund. They just wanted to ensure that we paid for the couch on December 31st. They had to know that their warehouse would be closed on that day. They figured once they had our money, they would find a way to make us pay for the delivery of couch which was $160 for delivery which was the discount that they gave us. Let's see if I'm going to have to get my bank involved to...
