Disappointed in the way that I was treated when a friend recommended we visit Sipp Chai for coffee. While initially being greeted with a “Hope you’re not in a rush” koi manner, by who I assume is the owner based on all of the Google reviews, I ordered a drink and donut for myself and my friend.
I paid for a large drink and went down to the till to kindly ask if my drink size is medium or large and to clarify that I paid for a large drink.
The owner kept telling me to “just relax and not worry” and insisted that I paid for a medium, even though he wasn’t the one that placed my order. I just told him I was trying to get this message to whoever so I can get the drink I ordered. Then he said he had to check with the person who ordered it and told me he’s bring up the drink because it was a large and needed to be remade.
Didn’t appreciate how this was handled. Customer is always right in business and he should have trusted his customer instead of asserting into a situation that he didn’t have details about. This really soured my experience and I won’t be returning to Sipp Chai… contrary to the reviews raving about “the energy”, it’s totally not good from the experience I had.
The owner also said he’d give us a deal and didn’t follow through - not sure what that was about… my friend felt just as awful as I did the whole time...
Read moreI came for the chai only and asked which chai had the most spice flavor. I was advised to get the Masala Chai. I have had chai in many countries and many restaurants, and none have been this bad. I ended up throwing it away because it had no flavor. I took a sip, and it tasted of extremely weak tea with only a hint of cardamom. I opened it up and found black tea bags floating in water with a splash of milk, 2 green cardamom pods, and one clove spike. I left it to infuse longer, hoping it would get better and added some honey, to no avail, it was the worst chia I have ever had. Powdered chai is better. I am extremely disappointed since that is the only reason I drove to this restaurant. Almost any coffee shop has chai on the menu, and this was a chai focused cafe I was hoping for at least as good as an Indian restaurant. Instead, I wasted my money on something anyone could make. Even if it was just chia tea bags in from the store steeped in milk, I would have been less...
Read moreI absolutely love this place. The "staff" are more like family, and they recognize and enjoy visiting with their regular customers. The atmosphere is amazing, with local art on the walls and music softly playing. There are lots of big comfy chairs, and unique pieces of furniture that makes the experience really unique. There are no generic "coffee shop" decorations at Sipp Chai. I want to tell a small story that perfectly sums up my experience with this amazing cafe. Several times when I was visiting, this customer came with a small dog. He came in, ordered his coffee but left the dog outside. The dog looking in through the glass door and barked, wagging his tail. When his owner came back he still looked in the window. He keeps watching and barking until the sweetest woman I've ever met (I believe she is the owner of the store) comes and brings the dog a little treat to eat. She does this every time the dog comes. It makes me so happy to see this little ritual. I...
