I just wanna start by saying: $11 chicken sandwich meal. A whole meal. Canned pop, a big sandwich, and boxed fries. For $11. $3 less than a #4 slider combo at Dave's Hot Chicken. Only $1 more than a McChicken meal. $1.50 less than a McCrispy meal. Eleven dollars.
And it crushes all of them.
At $8 on its own, it's incredible. Juicy, tender, with a satisfying, flaky, fallaway crunch. A mild yet fun hit of heat, with the option to go hotter. Just note that it's not actually a chicken patty, but two, heavily breaded chicken tenders, so sandwich integrity will be compromised somewhat. I'm a stickler for crunchiness and breading and this just needed a LITTLE more. But only a little. Oh, and if you wanted a clean-ish chicken burger, this one provides most of the punch of a Juicy Bird GOAT burger with less mess. Not that it would matter anyway, because the masala fries were also very, very good. And also pretty messy. (Which isn't a bad thing for me.)
These fries are $3.50 on their own and they pack just as much heat and flavour as the burger, which is surprisingly rare in my experience. Part of me wishes I got the regular fries so I know what their baseline was, but I don't regret getting it spiced up. It had a decent texture, less crunchy than I would've liked but still a satisfying trip throughout my mouth. Oh, and did I mention the meal was ELEVEN DOLLARS? My only regret was that I never took photos of my food so you guys can see how big the burger was.
Service was done with just a single person on a pretty dead hour, so 15 minutes for my meal was expected. He was friendly and approachable. Nothing more to be said there. The place was tiny and kinda quiet. Not really exciting on that front. I don't blame the guy for staying his post working the kitchen the whole time.
Eleven dollars. Go. Give this place the money it needs. We need more value like this. And if the restaurant sees this, I HOPE they never change the price. That's their ticket to greatness. Eleven. Dollars.
9/10 food. 7.5/10 service. 10/10 ridiculous value like my god I wish I had this in high school.
EDIT: Punctuation. More criticism on the crunch, though it was still very much textured and satisfying to...

I had the absolute pleasure of being the first-ever customer at Hen n Bun, and let me tell you, this place is a game changer. I can confidently say it's now my go-to place for fried chicken in the GTA!
The fried chicken itself is fantastic. The skin is crispy and the batter is perfectly seasoned. I tried both their medium-spiced 2-piece and the hot-spiced 4-piece combo. Both spicy levels were great, with a nice little kick, however, didn’t quite push my limits. So next time, I’ll be trying level hell! For those who aren’t into spice, they do offer mild or no spice options.
The injected spice reminds me of the comfort food you’d find in the Middle East, especially in Saudi Arabia—tender, flavorful, and comforting. It’s hard to find fried chicken that feels like home, but Hen n Bun nailed it. I really urge the owners to not let this quality down.
Their meal combos are super affordable, which makes this place even better. The combo includes buns, fries, a drink and sauce (maybe? not too sure as it was not ready when I ordered)—all for a very reasonable price! You really get great value for your money here.
The spot has limited seating, so takeout is probably your best bet if you're planning on visiting. And here’s a little bonus: they’re running a promotion on March 22nd and 23rd, where you can grab 2 legs and a drink for just $2.99! That’s a steal.
I’m not getting paid to say this, but I’m just too excited to finally find a fried chicken joint that matches the flavors I’m used to. Hen n Bun will definitely be in my top 3 fried chicken places in the GTA. If you haven’t checked them out yet, do yourself a favor and stop by! You...
Read moreHen N Ben is making waves in the GTA fried chicken scene with a concept that’s truly one of a kind in Canada. Their injected fried chicken is a game-changer, reminiscent of the original Al Baik in Saudi Arabia—a bold, flavorful experience that stands out from the typical fast-food offerings.
The Taste & Texture
From the first bite, you can tell this isn’t your average fried chicken. The crispy exterior gives way to juicy, well-seasoned meat, thanks to the injection technique that ensures flavor penetrates deep into the chicken. The result is a perfectly moist and flavorful bite every time, avoiding the dryness that some fried chicken places struggle with.
Spice Level – A Bit Too Intense
While the flavor profile is impressive, the spice level is quite high, which might not be for everyone. For those who love fiery food, this is a dream come true, but for others, it can be overwhelming. A suggestion to the owners: offer different spice levels—mild, medium, and hot—so customers can choose their preferred intensity. This would make the chicken even more accessible to a wider audience.
Location & Service
Having such a unique spot in Durham Region is fantastic. It’s always great to see high-quality, innovative food options expanding beyond downtown Toronto. The service is efficient, and the staff are friendly, adding to the overall positive experience.
Overall, it’s a must-try spot, and I’ll definitely...
