Last year I went to House of Wong for lunch and left disappointed due to my rice tasting burnt.
Last night I made a last second decision to return and I’m glad I did. The rice no longer tasted burnt and the rest of the food was thoroughly enjoyable. Starting off with the wonton soup, it was warm and inviting, the Wontons perfectly cooked, the soup had a savoury flavour.
The jumbo egg roll is an item I would come back for, I was actually tempted to order another one because it was crispy and delicious.
My main course was a dinner combo plate of pork fried rice, chicken chow mein and spare ribs. The chow mein was fresh and vibrant, the spare ribs while they kept their bone, accompanied a delicious sauce that went well together with the rice which didn’t taste burnt this time. All of these items were priced accordingly, served quickly and devoured swiftly. It was so good I actually forgot to take a picture of it.
Service was pleasant, (I assume the owners) greeting us at the door, taking care of us and returning to the table often to check on us.
Decor in this restaurant is simple but elegant. The only thing which stood out was the country music playing during dinner which seemed odd. Perhaps some instrumental music would have been a better choice but who am I to judge? Maybe the owners are country music fans.
Overall this is a nice Chinese food restaurant and I’ll be back to support this local eatery and try their...

There was a staple in my rice. I called them and i was treated like absolute worthless garbage.
I know it was a total accident that the staple is in there. I highly doubt someone purposely went and put a staple inside the rice but guess what- it happened Owner of House of Wong. And instead of your staff handling the situation logically.. they wasted more of my time. I am more angry as to how i was treated than the stupid staple in the rice.
I asked for the manager 10 times. The girl kepy saying talk to me. I want to talk to the manager. I dont trust employees portaying the message. And its an important mistake. But nope. She kept telling me the manager wasnt in and there was no one in charge. I have the entire recording on my phone. She put the phone down and made me wait and she continued to answer other calls for 12 minutes. I heard her laughing in the background. Finally some guy comes on the phone and laughs at me.
I told him i didnt want free food i just wanted to have a conversation with someone in charge. But now ill never order from there again.
Sincerely,
A Better Manager of a better...
Read moreHad a big family meal for 10+ people recently. Even though we live a few towns away we had to go to House of Wong! We got about 10 dishes and they were all good to excellent. They even gave us an extra dish for free as we ordered so much.
We preordered on the phone which was actually easy, there were no confusions or interruptions and there were no mistakes made on the order which was very shocking for how much we got.
We enjoyed everything. Personally I wasn’t huge on the Lo Mein, it was fine and some were fine with it but I’d prefer more flavour with the noodles. The Lemon Chicken was good but there was a lot of batter, some parts were so much thicker than the chicken and some parts the chicken escaped and dried out a lot. Not a huge deal.
General Tao, Sesame and Pepper Beef were excellent, even the next day. Fried Rice was excellent too. I must say I’m always used to getting one piece of sketchy chicken in my Gen Tao/Sesame Chicken but I got no weird pieces in anything.
Definitely worth the trip over other local...
