What A Bagel — Restaurant in Ajax

Takes forever to get anything here. They almost skip past items in your order to save money? They have inconsistent amount of toppings each time. More butter today much less tomorrow. Tones cream cheese barely any next week. The prices are very very high for umm next to nothing. Don't get me wrong I enjoy their food. But I'm always still hungry after spending 18$. We the People are asking you to make bigger bagels, or cut your prices a bit. Takes me a whole hour to pay for breakfast here only to be hungry still. Just saying I'll come back once more and that will probably be it. I can't justify the price for next to nothing. Place used to be AMAZING. Used to be. Used to be. Used to be. Not any more. So it's been 3 years since I've been back. Ordered a everything bagel with egg salad, and a marble loaf of bread. Paid like 18$ and I'll have to say didn't feel like it was worth it, yes they gave me 2 free cheap little cookies I enjoyed, but there was like no everything bagel seasoning on it, was rather hard not that I think it was a day old or anything, the egg salad was only in the centre of it. Unfortunately, there's a particular staff member here who consistently gives wrong information and doubles down when you try to clarify.

For example, I went in to get some cookies. I specifically asked which ones were the softest, and she told me the ones with the chocolate chips on the outside.

I asked her at least three more times, because it looked like they had soft-baked/chewy chocolate chip cookies on the table, but she said, "no, these are hard, those ones (pointing to the white cookies with chocolate chips on the outside) are soft."

I picked them up in my hand and asked her AGAIN. She said those were the softest.

Spoiler alert, I was right, they were HARD cookies, and tasted stale.

This staff member has done this multiple times before. I used to just move past it, especially because they have decent food, but this was just the straw that broke the camel's back.

Also, I understand that they might be busy, but I had to call four times before someone picked up the phone

Unfortunately, this is one of the only decent halal breakfast places, so I'll probably be going back, but I will be expecting disappointing service

Very sad and disappointed to see this place has gone downhill massively. We have been long time patrons...and I mean we were the very first customers who attended their opening day. Upon walking in, we were shocked at how dirty the dining area was...the tables, chairs, floors and washrooms were all filthy. I mentioned to the staff that the tables needed cleaning so that we can sit and eat...she came over, swiped the cloth on the table for two seconds and left. I gave up and cleaned the table and chairs myself with some napkins. The chicken parmesan sandwich was small compared to the size we've been getting in the past and the amount of sweet potato fries we got were also very minimal. The spicy mayo is now half the size it used to be. They also changed the sweet potato fries to another brand...they used to be thicker and longer, these are just straight up shoestring...shriveled and mostly what I think is tempura batter coating. We both left feeling very hungry, normally we are stuffed! Overall, terrible value for money and very little care is being taken to clean the premises. I shudder to think what condition their kitchen/prep area must be in. They also discontinued my favourite sweet cheese horseshoe.
