A&W Canada — Restaurant in Alberta

I went to this location on Jan.19/24 at around 3:45am @ -25*C (temperature). On the app it says the location is open 24 hours. It was not. I parked my semi truck and walk to the front door. It’s locked. The girl inside gives me the motion to come around. Imagine having a pen in your hand and twirling it for come around motion. Not pointing! I walk around to the drive thru window, stand there and watch two girls look at me and continue talking to each other. I wait around 90 seconds but they continue talking. I then place my order through the app because nobody would come to the window. The girls get the order ready all while looking at me through out. The order is now ready. Does she hand me the food? No!! Now let’s mention she is Indian, I’m Indian with an Indian name (name shows up because ordered through the app) standing and looking at them both. She can’t put two and two together. She looks out the front door and is looking at the cameras for someone to pickup the order. I finally get fed up and knocked and ask “is my order not ready yet?” She rudely says to me I should have knocked earlier. Maybe I’m stupid but in my brain if someone is standing at customer service window, they want customer service. She continues to argue that I’m wrong and she didn’t tell me to come around and she pointed to a window in the corner. I was left standing outside what felt like for 30-35 minutes(actually 15-20) in minus 25 degrees Celsius. Absolutely horrible. Staff needs extra training on customer service. To stand at a window and be ignored is very dehumanizing. DO BETTER!!!

PS: Can someone working drive thru tell me if people just come to stand at the window watching workers work through the window. Maybe I’m wrong for standing at the window....

I like A&W for their great food, their awesome coffee and they offer huge value with their coupons. However, I'll travel out of my way to visit this particular location as the staff may be the the most professional and nicest of any fast food restaurant that I have ever encountered...no lie. I have a small business located 4 blocks away. I have two of their large competitors only a block away but I will happily travel the extra 4 blocks to be greeted with genuine smiles, a fantastic attitude and always fresh and very tasty food. The staff work very hard and they are so efficient but most importantly, you can tell they are a very happy team. Never had a worse experience at an A&W. I ordered as I normally do at any A&W I go to. But the attendant assumed it wasn't the meal, just the burgers. When I asked for my cups she said "what cups, you just ordered burgers?"

I mean aren't they supposed to ask "do you want that burguer in a combo?" What happened to upselling?

The burgers we're horrendous. Stale bread and it seemed like nothing was fresh. Tasted as if they were microwaved.

I went up to ask for some chipotle sauce, as I normally do in any A&W I go to. The lady said it had to be paid for. I told her it's always been free everywhere I've gone before. And she said no, we're charging for it now. I...
