Read moreI was in Claresholm for the day so dropped into Blackwoods for a coffee. I have been to the one in Fort Macleod and it rates 5/5.
I was disappointed in the Claresholm location. The girl at the counter was quite rude. There were 3 ladies all speaking a foreign language and I had to wait until one of them got up from a table. I originally thought they were customers but they were the staff or the one lady was. There was no one else in the place. When I ordered a regular cup of coffee she said "we don't have coffee only Americano because the boss said no one wants it and it gets wasted. She pulled out a huge to go cup (I had planned on staying and having a square to go with it but she did not ask to go or stay) I could not imagine drinking an Americano of that size. I asked if there was anything smaller. "No" she said. I don't much care for Americano so just left. I felt like I was an imposition as she appeared to be only too anxious to get back to her conversation at the table she had been sitting at. A very disappointing visit after visiting the Fort Macleod location.
Some advice to the owner(s). Your staff is going to be hard on your business. I can't comment on the quality of the coffee as she said they don't serve "just coffee." I can't comment on the food because the staff was only too happy to get away as fast as she could to continue her conversation at a table without asking or giving me a chance...
Read moreStep aside Starbucks... this open concept coffee house has so many flavors to choose from that the combinations are endless. Nestled downtown just around the corner off hiway 3, I found it easily accessibile from my semi-truck (short walk). Upon arrival, you'll need to climb a few stairs where you can expect to be greeted by the friendly staff who are happy to make many suggestion (if you like variety). The entire place is well decorated with shelves full of purchasable merchandise (including teas). During these restrictive times (Covid-19), it's important to support local businesses. While fully compliant & closed for our indoor enjoyment, I was very happy to see that outside seating is available. The prices are similar to that of the larger city competition bars , but I believe it was quality for value.
