Waiting at an international airport terminal can be boring, and often times lacking in food choices. Today, I had the pleasure of enjoying lunch at the Chili's Airport location in the international wing. The tables were just in the common seating area for the shops, but served by the Chili's staff. Given the context, it was an exceptional experience.
The seating is simple cafeteria area tables and benches. The waitress who served me was Marilou. She was phenomenal. She brought me a menu quickly, and returned shortly therafter with my diet Coke and lime as requested.
I ordered the Big Bacon Burger, which was absolutely delicious, but also so monstrous I couldn't finish it.. and that is saying something since I am always able to finish a burger. The burger was two huge patties of perfectly cooked ground beef, cheese, lots of bacon and big bun. I had fries with the burger and also got the gravy to go with it (make sure to order the peppercorn gravy, it is perfect). The food was amazing, especially considering this is an airport terminal restaurant.
Pricewise the big bacon burger with fries is $22 which is a little higher for a gourmet burger, but honestly with the size of it, I felt like I got more than I paid for. The drink was $4 for the refillable soda, which again is par for the course in an airport. The side of gravy was an extra $2, but it was easily the best gravy I've had with my fries. Yes, it was an expensive lunch but it was tasty, filling, and located in an airport so I did not feel it was excessive.
On top of all that, the server, Marilou, was taking care of the entire area. This was probably 10 tables. She was efficiently helping everyone, got every part of my order accurate, and was kind and helpful throughout.
If you are looking to have lunch stop before catching your international flight out of YEG, definitely recommend you checking out the Chili's Texas Grill in the...

Experience with the manager at Chili’s yesterday, he wore a blue shirt and was of Philippines descent, (unfortunately I did not get his name, thus the description).
I have worked at the airport for years and went to get fries yesterday, the experience was wonderful so today I went for fries again during my break.
I saw the manager grabbing the fries with his hand, I kindly and quietly spoke to him about it (naturally, as I’m at work and need to be respectful and professional, but I always approach these situations kindly regardless).
He was immediately rude and defensive and speaking to me unkindly, disrespectfully, and with a raised voice, it was embarrassing. I would understand if I approached him unkindly but it was terrible execution on his part being in a managerial role to address someone in this manner… especially someone that is being respectful.
At first he said “I wash my hands a lot” and then switched to “I used the scooper”, but I saw him constantly looking back to check if someone sees him and seeing me watching him as it was to-go, and if he had used the scooper he would have said that in the first place, again insisting he “washes his hands a lot” while holding receipts and a pen in his hands, he said I saw wrong when I SAW HIM. Totally disrespectful in both addressing the manner and food safety. I even asked him why he’s speaking to me like that when I’m speaking kindly and he just shouted “You see all these people and their food, you think I’m touching it? You saw wrong.” Mind you, due to his unprofessional overreaction I had to take the unsafe fries as no alternatives like new fries or a refund were offered.
0/5 for customer service, management, resolving issues, and professionalism....
Read moreGreat food but dishonest staff. We had a one time use meal voucher/Mastercard from Flair in the amount of $240 for a family of 4. Our meal came to $225. The waitress, Regan, clearly told us that she did not get “any tip at all” from the Mastercard voucher. On payment she charged $240, not the meal cost of $225. We queried her about this literally 3-4 times and she was adamant that she does “not get the additional $15 “ but that she “has to charge the full amount of the coupon because it says one time use. We wanted to tip her $40 ($15 from the voucher and $25 on our own) but she adamantly and clearly told us she does not get anything from the Mastercard voucher so we gave her $40. There was no misunderstanding on either side. After we got home we investigated further, called her manager and Flair airlines and she clearly does get the $15 from the Mastercard voucher. Restaurants do not “have” to bill the full amount of the vouchers. It is not theirs to take, it is ours to give. Regan took a $55 tip instead of the intended $40. The manager seems to think this is funny. The second time I called the manager because he hadn’t called me back after 3 days he told me he had spoken to Regan about being more clear to clients, and I told him there was no misunderstanding and I wanted my tip money back, he said Regan wasn’t in and that he would speak to her again… the fact is, Regan is the one who answered the phone and called the manager to the phone. I still have not received an etransfer with the tip money back. BEWARE OF THIS LOCATION. I am also lodging a formal complaint with Flair so that they are aware of the abuse of their meal vouchers at...
