Staff are super rude, especially the manager at this location. I was at the restaurant around 530pm on May 2, 2021, when a lady came in with no mask. The manager addressed her that she had to wear a mask to which the lady responded that she had a medical exemption. This is something I've never seen before in a restaurant and I was totally shocked by the response of the manager. She said that there's no such thing as a medical exemption and that doctor's don't believe in it as well. Basically she was saying that a medical exemption is bogus. How rude! The lady was told "No mask no service" and the lady left the restaurant. The manager could've stayed friendly to this customer since nobody in the restaurant was complaining (there were a couple of ladies in the restaurant as well, masked). The only one making a big issue out of this was the manager who refused to give her name when she was asked for it. I thought we were in this together but it seems that certain people, like this manager, are on a little power trip. Stay friendly to your customers, stay friendly to all people! If you want to make a comment about a person not wearing a mask then think about what they went through in the past... It could be a traumatic event, a medical condition, etc... you don't know. After witnessing this at this restaurant I'm NEVER going back there. I'll take my business somewhere else. I hope the lady that was kicked out of the restaurant is doing well and I hope she knows that not all people with masks are as unfriendly as this store manager. Shame on you Edo Japan to employ...
Read moreEdo Japan in Okotoks is a hidden gem atop a small hill. The food is top-notch – seriously. Remarkably consistent, reliably good and just frankly delicious. Yes I am aware that Sushi purists out there may have disdain for the more gentle demographic appeal of the chosen sushi platters and menu items here at Edo. There are times I will go for something more specific and exotic when I elect to sear my tongue and lose taste for 2 days when I'm in the mood.
At other times I want comfort food that is refreshingly distinct and beyond the "burger and fries". Plus, the view from the hill nearby is just pristine, when it isn't -38 celcius that is.
But what really makes this place a craving for me is the vibe. The staff is not just friendly; they're a cheerful, warm cavorting smattering team players that work swiftly, with a smile on their face and in a way that radiates an appreciation and enjoyment of their job.

Read moreThe customer service was terrible !!! Counter girl was rude and disrespectful. All she wanted to do was argue with me and tell me I was wrong when I got smoked salmon on an item. They did not even ask if I wanted something else. She just wanted to argue with me. This is the worst Experience I’ve ever had at Edo. I’m 65 years of age and I didn’t need somebody back sassing me instead of trying to solve the problem. Also I don’t think what I ordered sushi wise was fresh I believe it was made maybe this morning and put on a tray in the cooler I was very very disappointed and will never go to this location probably not even Edo again. If you’re planning on spending your money on Japanese food I would suggest going somewhere else these people do not know what they’re doing and they’re...
