We flew into Calgary to visit relative. On the way we stopped by to check out this Vietnamese restaurant. It was around 2pm and restaurant was packed (usually it is an indication of popular for local). 10 minutes wait and we got a booth near corner. Waiter and waitress were very friendly. They came to the door and greeted us with cheerful smile. We called several of our favor dishes include the famous Pho. Food were great and directed to our taste buds. Color were well coordinated and plus the heavenly smell of "ca kho to". yuumm.. yuummm. Surprised to see owner take time to visit each table to cheer and inquire guests on food rating. (it is rare to see such generous reception from any restaurant owner). He was happy to share his continuous improvement on food quality and food presentation. I have to agreed on that point. Each dish has to attract me (color/smell/elegant) before my mind actually accept the taste. I can tell that restaurant did not use any MSG since I didn't feel any dryness in my mouth after chow down whole bowl of beef ball noodle soup. The place is roomy and clean. Two people can walk side by side between isle. Decor is natural color which help calm the mind down to enjoy the dining atmosphere. (It is not just only the food but the whole experience of the moment). He agreed to let us took some photos of restaurant and dishes. It was very kind of him. I am sure it is one of the best restaurant in Calgary. If you ever come to Calgary and in the area, I would recommend...
Read morePlease understand I rarely complain unless it’s bad and please read my horrible experience. I sincerely rely on reviews and appreciate peoples reviews. Here’s what happened to me. I ordered a dish for $14 which is fair, unfortunately it had very little chicken on it. An amount that anyone would complain about. I showed the owner and he said I would have to pay more. He then continued to argue with me. I showed him I had literally one ounce of chicken. He couldn’t care less. After showing him the dish he argues with me and says he couldn’t afford to use more chicken. Wow! He simply didn’t care. He actually started getting other tables involved to embarrass me. Never experienced that in all my years. The soup was ok but this dish was a complete joke. The owner or manager was way out of line and should have never involved other tables to embarrass a legitimate complaint. I recommend if you want mediocre this place is mediocre but the other pho place in town has super good reviews for a reason and this place is not as good as the reviews show. It Does have a good location and the girls working there was polite.
The other pho place in okotoks is awesome with better reviews. I own a business and if my clients have an issue I deal with it immediately to make them happy. This place is not as good as the reviews say. Customer service was good until you have a complaint and they can’t deal with their incompetence. Too bad...
Read moreI hadn’t eaten here for 10 years because was just always disappointed in the quality of Vietnamese. Today I thought I would try it again, was starving and ordered a pork, shrimp, spring roll vermicelli bowl. No one came to my table to take my order ( restaurant was empty) so I went to the front and ordered. Got back from the bathroom 60 seconds later and she met me at the table with my food. The meat was not fresh, and the entire dish was cool. I ate to fill my hunger and then let the owner know when he came to the table and he proceeded to argue with me about their methods of cooking and telling me it was cooked fresh and that meat wouldn’t look like this if it wasn’t fresh and kept using my chop stick to bat around the meat in the bowl! I showed him the old looking prawn tails and he gaslit me. He wouldn’t stop talking I just wanted to leave. I said that’s ok, I just wanted to let you know I thought it was strange how quickly it came and it wasn’t very good. I reluctantly still tipped them although they didn’t deserve it. The P&H in High River is always so fresh and delicious, I guess I’ve been spoiled there. I’ll never go to...
