We stopped in for tea after hearing they had a large and interesting selection—and they definitely do! The tea menu was 28 pages long, with a wide range of options from herbal to classic blends. We were excited to explore it.
At the front, we let the host know we were just here for tea, and he welcomed us warmly and seated us right away, which was a great start.
Unfortunately, the service that followed didn’t quite match that initial friendliness. Our server approached us almost immediately after we sat down. We explained that we were just browsing the tea menu and needed some time, but she returned again about a minute later to ask if we were ready. This repeated a few more times in short intervals—despite us clearly saying we were still deciding. It made us feel rushed and uncomfortable, and instead of enjoying the process of choosing from such extensive and unique menu, we ended up picking teas quickly just to avoid the pressure.
I ordered the Tiffany Rose Melody, an artisan blooming tea that looked beautiful as it steeped—delicate flower slowly opened in the pot. My husband had the Moroccan Madness, which he also enjoyed. The teas themselves were lovely and clearly high quality, and the pricing was very fair for what we received.
After we were served, the service seemed to disappear entirely. When we needed a to-go cup and the bill, no one came by—and eventually my husband had to get up and go find someone himself.
It’s a shame, because the space is nice and the tea options are genuinely great—but the experience felt rushed and impersonal. I hope this was just an off day, because with better service, this could easily be a wonderful spot...
Read moreThis is for the arrogant manager named Alex, who was told i'd be giving this terrible review. We ate at Glenn's 3 yrs ago when first moved to Red Deer and was quite good.
Not this time. Arrived for dinner around 6 pm. Started with coffee that was not hot. Waitress said she had to make coffee fresh. Still not very hot, luke warm. When i asked for multi-grain bread on my $22.00 clubhouse sandwich, i received white. So i returned it. Clubhouse came back correct but not the fries i had with it. I asked where's the fries, was told being made fresh. When they finally came, i was halfway through my sandwich, and they were under cooked with much oil on the plate...rather gross. I explained they should have brought the meal complete with fries. I asked where the manager was, i was told he will be out later. When Alex finally came, about 5 minutes after my guest and i finished eating (i didn't eat the under cooked, greasy, late arriving fries), he started by saying and i quote "There's nothing particularly wrong with the meal..." i'll comp you your fries. That's when my guest spoke and pointed out the meal was wrong from the beginning, cold coffee, wrong bread, late awful fries. I suggested my meal be complimentary, mine, not my guests. He argued with me and offered half price. I warned Alex i'd put this experience on google reviews, he didn't care. This is a $22.00 meal were talking about here, and only my meal...$11.00 difference from half price to full price. For that horrible arrogant attitude, i give you this honest review. Tried to take pic of fries and oil on the plate, didn't turn out great, but the pic is here.
Will never...
Read moreGreat food, AWFUL service and management. The problem with the service was that the waiter (Justis) made it clear that he was unimpressed when we told him our friend is running behind and would be another 20mins. After our order was delivered, he never returned to check on us or refill our $4 a glass pop. In fact he was gone for approx. 45 minutes. We had not what staff for that period of time. After waving down another waitress, we received the requested items promptly. She took away our empty plates and ordered our dessert for us. We had to wait for Justis to return to get our slices of pie. When we received our bill, it was wrong (had items from someone else's order). The waiter begrudgingly fixed the bill. I tried to speak to the manager about our concerns, on our way out. I was told there were cards on the table I could fill out (he was helping another couple with tea). When I tried to tell him what our concerns were, the manager began to badger me about the details about Justis' attitude while he did the things that did, or rather didn't, happen. As I tried to speak, the manager kept cutting me off with questions like: "but was he smiling? If he was smiling, what's the problem?". I finally said to him that it was obvious what the problem was, and it came down from management. I was told that if I was that unhappy, my party was more than welcome to not return. No problem Glenn's, we won't come back. We won't be back to spend $65 on lunch for (2 people)....
