Outstanding Sandwiches, Great Location, Great Atmosphere!!
I've been following this little sandwich shop located on Centre Street in Drumheller for several month's now and I FINALLY had the opportunity to stop in for a bite! And what a BITE it was!!
My initial order on mind was the beef and cheddar but on a Wednesday evening, (close to closing time), they were sold out. It was unfortunate, but not the end of the world. Instead I opted for the Smok'n Ham sandwich and it was absolutely delicious! The flavor from the sourdough bread and the melted garlic butter, garlic mayo and smoked cheese really came through. Although the sandwich tasted great, it would have been nice to have another slice of ham or two to thicken it up.
For the side, I ordered the macaroni salad! It was an excellent choice. Creamy, packed with flavor and big noodles! It was excellent!
If you're a craft beer lover, then THIS is the place to get anything that suits your soul. The options were probably one of the best I've ever seen for selection. The cooler had beers from all over (and I wish I captured a picture of it, but I didn't.) You'll just have to take my word for it being a craft beer lover and supporter myself :)
The service was great! Friendly, smiling and made you feel welcome! The flooring is right out of a classic 50's diner, and everything is so simple and yet felt so inviting.
Overall, I really enjoyed Heller Good Sandwiches! I will definitely be back next time I'm...
Read moreHonestly shocked by the high ratings. Perhaps we got an off day? We went with our kid on a hot day. Hungry and overstimulated by the crowds of people, we were excited for what looked like a cute restaurant. $7 for a piece of bread with a single slice of cheese and ham for a kids sandwich. I got the chicken salad. It was so over saturated in mayo, wouldn’t stay in the bun, so extremely messy, maybe about 10 chunks of chicken to an entire cup of mayo. Somehow I missed that there was pork on the chicken sandwich. Not everything needs pork. I picked it off but I felt sick the rest of the day. My husband’s sandwich was not great either. Very over priced for a basic sandwich with small portion of meat and large portion of mayo. We got a pasta salad. It was also extremely mayo based. You’d think for a sandwich place there would be more than one chicken option. It was also uncomfortably hot in there. Do any businesses in drumheller even have air conditioning? Have you ever eaten a cup of mayo on basic focaccia bread in extreme heat? It’s not enjoyable. Especially while pregnant. Bathroom was overflowing with used paper towel. Staff was standing around looking hot and bored. All in all, wouldn’t recommend, won’t be going back. Might open our own sandwich place, if this is all it takes to be successful. Nice...

Nice atmosphere. They must have been getting the cushions made for the bench seat along the wall, as the seating was very uncomfortable.
The beef and cheddar sandwich is pretty good, with a generous amount of what seemed to be fresh made beef. The bun was good also, but way too big. Only ate about 1/2 of the bun. They might also want to try seasoning the beef while they cook it, would be way better. The cheese that they use is also rather tasteless, would be nice with a more robust cheddar. Some mustard or horse radish would go well in this sandwich.
As others have said the Italian sandwich is tasty, but way too much bread and not enough meat. Perhaps they should consider making wraps for those of us that don't want a loaf of bread as a sandwich.
They have an interesting selection of canned drinks, including sodas and alcoholic beverages made in Alberta.
Would probably go back again if they offer sandwiches with fewer carbs.
Hope...
