McDonald's — Restaurant in Alberta

Well.. what can I say other than the manager just wants to keep your money when they don't have an item. So I made an order, with poutine. I was then informed, would you like large fries instead, as they did not have gravy. I said okay, then thought a second, and asked for a refund for the poutine. Manager asked why there was no gravy... no answer from staff. They go to refund me, but instead of refunding the poutine, they gave the the difference of the lg fries. I said I didn't want lg fry, I want poutine, and YOUR STAFF offered lg fries (no mention of cost). Manager argued with me about it. I said, I was offered lg fries instead, but they made me PAY for them. I would not budge about the proper refund as it was not what I wanted or asked for. He tried to tell me, that's what I wanted. I stood firm... and low and behold, he said make the gravy for the poutine. Ummm, well look at that! They would have been able to make the poutine in less time it took for me to get my money back. Staff need to be a little more courteous and not eye roll when asked for a refund, as I was not getting what I wanted, and the manager trying to rip me off, yet he was telling me HE was going to be short (of $). So I guess, the customer is not right here and they won't make it right without a fight. Note that I was calm, cool and collected in this exchange. I just smiled and kept repeating... no poutine, money for the up charge back please. No I did not want lg...

This is a very busy McDonald's site and I truly hate going there, however generally McDonald's food is the same everywhere and timing was a concern. The last time I went to this site (in the spring) I decided to go thru the drive thru which took so long that I figured I would go inside this time and hopefully speed things up. Instead of placing my order at the counter (there were issues in the past when doing this) I used the self-serve screens. I find these screens and the McDonalds app to be so confusing and I wasted so much time placing my order. In all I am sure I was in that restaurant close on 30 minutes until we received our food. There are allot of staff in the back of the restaurant and everyone was very busy running around or prepping food, but people like myself who wanted their orders had to wait quite a bit of time. The food was just ok, (the hashbrown appeared to be a little under cooked), the coffee was not good at all. It had a burnt taste to it. The sandwiches were ok. I know the folks in these places work hard long hours as there are so many people passing thru that area, but McDonalds should have their process well defined that anyone could work it. I will not be frequenting this location any more in the future. I am very sorry for giving a bad review as I am sure the staff do not get paid enough to take hassles from people. I did not complain at the site as I did not want to upset anyone or...
