Although the food here is good, my most recent visit warrants the one star rating. Upon entry into the restaurant, you are greeted with a large sign placed just underneath the counter. This sign contains several policies and notes on what to expect as far as service. Although I can't recall the exact wording of the sign, I can say for sure that the sign is lengthy (more than 5 lines long) and to me, suggests the management is frustrated. Usually when you walk into a resuraunt, you see maybe one sign saying something along the lines of "harassment of our staff is not tollerated". This is understandable, but for some reason, believe it or not, isn't one of the policies listed on their laundry list of a sign. (I'm not joking, it really is that long of a sign). Aside from this, the food was decent, but the service was far from satisfactory. While dining, I witnessed a staff member throw a phone towards one of the tables with a family of 4. It's hard to tell if this was an accident or not, because the lady seemed frustrated with the person she was talking to on the phone, hung up and I assume was aiming to throw the phone on the counter. Regardless, the phone did get thrown and ended up hitting the back of a person's chair. It seems they were able to laugh it off luckily, but if it were me, I would not be too impressed. All in all, I would recommend against visiting this location and driving the extra distance to the downtown location for better service. To me, if management has to list more than one or two polices, it suggests that the owners should consider leaving the business and try something new. I think this was the best Vietnamese restaurants I have ever tried.I have experienced many pho places and others.The food was so fresh and the portions were good sized.I was very surprised to see all breast meat when ordering the chicken dish and the BBQ beef was delicious.The Vietnamese coffee was just perfect the way I like it.They offer three asian beers to chose from two from Vietnam and a third from Bangkok. The restaurant was so clean and the staff were very warm and welcoming.The owners'a husband and wife team individually came and asked how our meals were,very very fine folks.The food came to us quickly and was hot. To top it off we were offered a dessert of homemade Creme caramel flan, with the most perfect caramel sauce, one of the best I have ever had and I have tasted many from quite a few of the downtown Calgary restaurants This was equal or better than anything the city can offer.The meal as a whole would be hard to top at the whopping price of $51.19 total.The family also has one of the oldest serving Vietnamese restaurants in Calgary owned and operated by the parents.I wanted to also say how clean the place is the glasses, utensils plates cups bowls table the side condiments containers were very clean.This was our first experience here and for my wife also,she wanted vietnamese for her birthday meal.Our daughter suggested Pho Hoai, since she had been there previously once and was very impressed.Our family are very choosy where we eat and for me i was a bit skeptical,my skepticism has been relieved.The restaurant has been open for just a year and a half and we are blessed to have found this special place.We all highly recommend Pho Hoai Vietnamese Beef House you will be very pleased ,well worth...
