Smitty's Restaurant & Lounge - Red Deer — Restaurant in Alberta

We saw signs for Smitty's all over Alberta and decided to stop for a quick meal. We shouldn't have stopped when we saw it connected to a gas station. The waitress was very nice, but the food was another story. Nothing came out as described on the menu. The Steak Sandwich was one piece of toast with a steak and two onion rings not even stacked. I inquired about the tomato jam that was listed with it and was told they were out of it. I had requested my steak to be medium, but it was a dry well done. She offered to have them remake it, but I changed to the beef dip. The bread was soft, the meat was bland, there was no cheese, and the au just tasted like water. No flavor at all. Stood around for about 5 or more minutes waiting to be seated then had to wait almost 15 minutes before our order was taken or even a drink ordered our meal only to find out after they had a buffet that was never offered to us waitress was gonna deliver our food to an empty table as we moved to the table next to it as air conditioner was way too cold where we were seated when telling the manager how bad the service was he tried to just brush it off saying it was in the menu about the buffet but we did not see any advertisement anywhere his response it's every Sunday only we are not from red deer how are we supposed to know bottom line your serving staff should let guest know their opinions. Poor poor service and experience will not return and would not recommend this...

Yuck. Brunch buffet was really, really bad. My review falls in with everyone else. Amazing waitresses. TERRIBLE food.

Everything was dry and was refilled in tiny amounts at a time. I left hungry because there was just no food or fresh food options. It kind of seemed like they keep a large portion of everything in the back to sit, and bring out tiny bits at a time. Nothing that came out was fresh. Just dry and stale and in very small quantities.

The hour that I was in there I didn't see any of the food bins filled with more than a handful of food at any time.
