I'll start by saying very disappointed.
My wife and I have been to this place twice within roughly a year. The first time was not overly great, I got a pulled pork burrito and she got vegetable tacos. The pulled pork in my burrito was in big chunks contradictory to what it should be, and the tacos had lots of potato in them, which is just a non authentic filler let's be honest here. So we figured we'd give them a year to see if the quality improved.
Fast forward to our second visit, this time we ordered vegetable and chicken burritos. My god it was worse this time, the chicken was bland, lacking and tasted like it had been boiled for a little too long, and the abundance of hard cabbage was incredibly off putting and overpowered any flavor present. The vegetable burrito began leaking like a sieve after a couple bites forming a large pool on the plate. The food is greatly overpriced ($30 for two burritos) and the fact that cheese/sour cream/guac don't come included for said price is outrageous.
My final notes on these subpar experiences are the quality of food needs improving, I'm not being picky I've been to Mexico, I've had authentic Mexican food and this is not it, not even remotely close.
And for all you people giving five stars saying this is great authentic Mexican food, give your head a shake you don't even know what good food is, I feel sorry...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe restaurant lacks many things. Unfortunately the food was bland and not up to par with other great Mexican restaurants on Vancouver Island. Furthermore they had children running around the restaurant and operating the cash register! a business is no place for children especially when it involves food. And because of children manning the counter and such there was quite a long wait to be able to make an order. some things that could update the restaurant would be more traditional style West Coast Mexican food and sauces so customers can choose to have different styles of hot sauces and condiments on their Barito like taco Fino which is a 10 out of 10!!! For some reason they had Middle Eastern music playing in a Mexican restaurant which I find very odd. I hope that they make several changes and go to other Mexican restaurants to learn more effective approach to owning a successful Mexican restaurant till these changes are made I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreItās not often I leave a 1-star review, but felt compelled after our visit here. This place so intensely missed the mark that we could only laugh about it. We ordered a margarita and a few chips and guacamole to start things off. The margaritas were canned Jose Cuervo mixes that tasted like sprite, two of those puppies set us back a crisp $22. The chips were simply a stale bag from Costco that was torn open and sitting behind the counter, and the guacamole was squeezed out of a tube. When our chips were delivered the employee who helped us out said sorry, heād poured in the bottom of the bag crumbs, so what has arrived was a pile of small chip shards alongside green tooth paste. At this point we decided to cut our losses and find food elsewhere but had already spent in the neighbourhood of $30, luckily a lovely little place was around the corner and our experience there (also reviewed) was much...
