I've been here a few times over the years and it's been nice. The food is okay and I appreciate supporting local businesses, but the services the last few times felt unpleasant and overly rushed—even when the restaurant wasn’t busy.
During my recent visit, my friend and I were enjoying our breakfast at a relaxed pace, noticing plenty of empty tables around us. Since I always pay attention to my surroundings, I made sure we weren’t taking up space or lingering too long in case it got busy.
Despite the restaurant being half empty, the staff checked in so frequently that it felt excessive—not to see how we were doing, but more like, “Are you ready to leave?” Before we even finished our meals, we were handed the payment machine. Shortly after, the owner came over and said, “Sorry, are you leaving? I have a line-up outside.” Feeling pressured, we apologized and left—only to walk out and see no line-up at all, just several empty tables.
I brushed it off as a one-time experience, but when I returned with another friend the following week, the same thing happened. Half the restaurant was empty, yet we were rushed through our meal again. It was disappointing, and unfortunately, I won’t ever be returning. Its sad. A relaxed breakfast experience should feel welcoming, not like you’re being pushed out the door. I've been to many other breakfast areas in the area and have never had such unpleasant service.
From the owner’s perspective, I could understand the need to turn tables faster if there were truly a line-up. However, since no line-up existed, the approach felt unnecessary and unwelcoming. It also seemed like the waitresses were being pressured by the owner to move customers along, which made the experience feel even more rushed.
If they were upfront—like having a policy about time limits during busy hours (like some restaurants say or have a sign up)—that would be different. It seems like they’re pressuring customers out even when it’s not needed. Not a smart way to do business.
Instead of benefiting the business, it’s more likely to drive customers away—as it did with us and our friend's families. Really...
Read moreNot often I leave a bad review. Considering how amazing the Etobicoke location is, it is a shame the franchise can not keep consistent.
Two of us ordered drinks (chocolate milk, orange juice) and decide to split a Hungry Teen Platter and an extra order of fruit (they charge a sharing fee if only ordering one meal *first red flag)
The sharing fee is typical of places like this but seemed ridiculous considering the table next to us was able to bring in their own watermelon and cut it up.
As we are waiting for food I noticed a different server wiping tables and just brushing off crumbs and bits of food right onto the ground without coming back with a broom or a mop. *second red flag
Food came out out... Bacon, rubbery. Sausage, rubbery, peameal wasnt bad but wasnt really that warm. The eggs were awful, I ordered scrambled and I get breakfast places will pour out premixed egg and scramble but considering the price of this place I expected more. Homefries were mushy and had a generic seasoning that lacked any kind of depth. The $9 fruit bowl was very small and underwhelming for the price.
Side note the Heinz ketchup bottles are filled with a wholesale ketchup (either Sunspun or Frenches) that doesn't even remotely taste like Heinz. I don't typically care if it's Heinz or a different brand just label it properly.
Reason it gets at least one star is our server was extremely nice. Shame not all the staff there had the same enthusiam as her.
It's not uncommon for a franchise to look for ways to pinch pennies and considering the inflation and economic climate I can understand some compromises. This place is clearly using the original reputation and cutting every corner it can for bottom line profit. I am shocked the other reviews are not worse. Save your money and go else where, lots of other places in the area to eat at that can actual provide a good meal.

I usually don’t leave negative reviews and prefer to address concerns directly with the owner, but this time there didn’t seem to be one around — just a few cooks and some teenage girls acting as servers.
We were seated almost immediately, and our order was taken within about five minutes. But it took 20 minutes for our breakfast to arrive, and even then, we had to wait another five minutes for cutlery — and only after we asked for it.
To make matters worse, there was what looked like an arm or beard hair on my plate. I tried to overlook it, hoping the food would make up for the situation, but it didn’t. The food arrived cold. The English muffin was overcooked and hard. The bacon was so tough it could have broken a tooth. The eggs were not prepared as requested, and what was supposed to be home fries had an overwhelming sugary flavor that made no sense.
Just ten minutes after we finally received our food, the waitress came over with the debit machine in hand and asked if we were “still working on it.” She returned two more times over the next ten minutes with the same question. It felt like they were trying to rush us out rather than let us enjoy our meal.
They charge prices like a high-end breakfast spot, but the quality and service are nowhere close. I’ve had far better experiences at DayBreak and other similar places. Not...
