This Latin market is such a hidden gem! As soon as I walked in, I felt like I had been teleported to South America. They have a huge selection of groceries from all over Latin America, and it’s clear that they put a lot of effort into stocking authentic items from different countries. Whether you're looking for specialty ingredients or just want to browse and try something new, they’ve got it all. But the real highlight for me was the small eats. I had the quesabirria, and it was *so* good! Perfectly cheesy, crispy on the outside, with that rich, flavorful birria filling. They also have things like tacos and tamales, so there’s something for everyone. It’s the kind of place where you can grab a quick bite and still be blown away by the flavors. On top of that, the staff were all super friendly and welcoming. You can tell they love what they do and are happy to share their culture and food with the community. Honestly, this is more than just a grocery store—it’s a full-on experience. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area!

My favourite local market! They have so many different products from Latin American countries, including delicious beverages, snacks, canned goods and more. They also have fresh hot food including tamales, many varieties of empanadas, delicious pozole soup, and on Fridays and Saturdays, Pupusas! Everyone who works there is so friendly and kind. We are lucky to have them in Alberta Avenue!

Asked for flautas and was charged 8.99, didn’t realize until I went home and checked their website that it comes with 3 pieces plus topping and all I got was one plain flaunta. Lady pretty much scammed me probably because I wasn’t Mexican and she used that to cheat me. I loved the food here and recommended to my friends but now I see this places cheats non Spanish speaking customers.

I moved to this area thrre years ago. Paraiso was the first store I shopped at. I dont speak Spanish and I'm basicall Scottish ancestry. I've always enjoyed herbs, teas and other products very much. The food is great.

Even when the store is crowded people are patients and everyone is careful patient about being in the Q.

I've never felt treated much differently other than not speaking Spanish which is fine. Sometimes I muster a few words. Until today.

O had been gardening all day, and thought I'd pick up a little bite to eat and check and see if I could purchase a product I was running out of and really really like.

It wasnt crowded and there was no line. I stood in front of food waiting to order. No one said anything or acknowledged I was there, do I moved over to the cash register by the food to wait. A young man went up to the food counter and was immediately served. I thought...okay, that felt bad but I rationalized it. So, whem he was done orderingcand was ready tobpay I moved back infront of the food. He was very nice. However, no one was able to help me. I was going to try again at the counter but another patron was waved into line ahead of me. When she was done she fibally looked at me and I asked about the salve I hoped to buy again. She didnt have it at the moment...but said try again in a couole of weeks.. all good but, I still wanted to get some hot food and she was already rushing away.

I mentioned that I had wanted to order which was met with zero interest so I said I would go elsewhere. Which I did.

Something was not right about this. It really pays in good will if you have a legitimate reason for passing over a customer in the Q to tell them briefly why and let them know you'll be right with them. And follow through. Maybe it was my appearance or these to people who I hadnt seem before dont understand customer service, but I'm really...

Paraiso Tropical made our Latin Heritage Month corporate event a resounding success! From start to finish, their service was exceptional. We were incredibly impressed with their extensive menu – they offered a fantastic variety of food options to cater to all tastes, and the pricing was unbeatable; honestly, the best we found in the market. Their suggestions for our event were incredibly detailed and perfectly tailored to our needs. They clearly understood our vision and helped us create a menu that was both delicious and representative of the diverse Latin cultures we wanted to celebrate. They even offered to handle the catering and provide Latin-themed decorations, which was a very tempting offer! While we ultimately decided to manage those aspects ourselves, it speaks volumes about their comprehensive service offerings. We would absolutely love to see what their decoration services would look like next time! Communication with Paraiso Tropical was consistently prompt and clear. They were incredibly responsive to all our questions and requests, making the entire planning process smooth and stress-free. Their willingness to accommodate our needs went above and beyond. Overall, we were completely satisfied with Paraiso Tropical's food, service, and pricing. We highly recommend them for any event, especially those celebrating Latin heritage. We will definitely be using them again for our Latin Heritage Month...

Alberta Avenue Gem! Best tacos in Edmonton. I love this place, and I think you will too. The grocery store appearance may throw you off, but you’ve got to stop in and check out their selection of fresh, authentic empanadas, tamales, tacos, and more!

I normally opt for the Chilean empanadas, and the guava and cheese empanadas holds a special place in my heart. Today I finally got the try the tacos (only available certain days) and OMG! I cannot believe I didn’t try them sooner. The tortillas were supple and tender but held their texture perfectly against the juicy flavourful birria filling. Are so quickly I forgot to take a photo.

They have a unique selection of Latin snacks, drinks, and a massive hot sauce selection. Don’t sleep on this place, it’s a local favourite for a reason!

Shoutout to Walter who always goes above and beyond to elevate the guest experience. Today Walter gave me salsa samples to try, and in the summer he gave us samples of special food and drink from their open house, and even stayed open late so I could buy more food!...
