I was incredibly fortunate to receive a $150 gift card from 147 Italian restaurant and bar in Barrie through a giveaway, and let me tell you—it was the perfect excuse to revisit one of our all-time favourite restaurants. From the moment we walked in to the last bite of dessert, everything about the experience was exceptional.

First, the food:
 Every dish we have ever had here has been absolute perfection. On this visit, I enjoyed the spaghetti carbonara—creamy, rich, and perfectly balanced. My partner had the lasagna, and it was layered with love—hearty, flavourful, and comforting. We have also tried the orecchiette pasta and chicken parm on previous visits, and both were absolutely delicious. You can taste the freshness and quality in every ingredient. The warm, fresh bread served at the beginning of the meal is a small but important touch—it sets the tone for a great dining experience.

But what really elevates 147 Italian restaurant and bar is the incredible team behind the scenes and on the floor:

🍝 Marta – her presence is felt throughout the restaurant. She’s warm, attentive, and deeply passionate about what she does. You can tell she takes great pride in both the food and the atmosphere. Marta leads by example, and it shows in every interaction and every detail. She makes such a difference with the work she does! 👋 Nina – The hostess with the most welcoming smile. She greeted us right away and made us feel comfortable from the start. Friendly, efficient, and composed even when the restaurant is bustling—she’s the perfect first impression of 147 Italian.

🍸 Shannon – The bartender who absolutely knows her craft. Shannon made us feel like regulars with her easygoing charm and great drink recommendations. Her cocktails are balanced and creative, and she’s quick to ensure guests are happy and taken care of.

🍷 Tony – One of our servers on multiple occasions, and truly outstanding. He was professional yet personable, and knew the menu inside and out. He made great suggestions, checked in on us at the right moments, and had a great sense of humour that added to the experience.

🍽 Anthony – Another gem of a server! Attentive and kind, he made sure everything was perfect throughout our meal. You can tell he cares about the guests' experience and takes pride in offering top-notch service. He constantly goes above and beyond!

This kind of team synergy and individual excellence is rare to find. The staff doesn’t just do their job—they go above and beyond to make your evening memorable. The energy at 147 Italian is warm, welcoming, and authentic—just like the food. 147 Italian restaurant and bar is more than just a restaurant—it’s an experience you’ll want to relive again and again. We came here at peak dinner hour 6:30 and we didn't have reservations (as didn't know where we would be as we were touring around and didn't want to commit to anything in case we can't make it) We wanted to try this place hopefully they would have spots. They're extremely busy and had a private party so we couldn't get the lake view. To our surprise they were willing to accommodate us and provided us with extremely great service even though they were already swamped. they sat us at the Nxt Dor patio side. we really liked the vibe there as it was super busy but we were still able to talk and it wasn't noisy. what surprised us the MOST was the FOOOOOOOD!!!!! It was exceptionally good! we had recently travelled to Italy and really missed the food there. THIS PLACE WILL NOT DISAPPOINT YOU! OMG! From the presentation of the food to the texture to the taste! PHENOMENAL!!! Taste like you are back in Italy and even BETTER than some restos in Italy. This place is A GEM! is very authentic and price is reasonable for such great food. We really love this place and hopefully in the future we will just travel here for Italian food instead of italy...🤣 We don't live in Barrie and we're just here for a short stay however, this WILL be our top MOST MISSED places from Barrie for sure. We will be back if we are here for SURE! We over ordered however we don't regret packing everything back! PS- the carbonara was not presented to us like that, it had a much prettier presentation but our member was just too anxious n digged right in! I really regret not ordering desserts, im sure it would be great too but honestly we were full to the max the food was so good. we weren't hungry to begin with as we've been eating non stop through out the entire day but for us to love the food so much when we're not even that hungry just shows you that this place is really good. the portions are big! the owner and server has great hospitality and keeps checking on us to see if we were doing ok. they're very friendly and accommodating despite the busy-peak dinner time. overall great must-try place if you're...

I was so looking forward to trying this restaurant with my friends. Unfortunately the service that we received was terrible. It took so long before our server even asked if we would like a drink. We ordered and them waited and waited for our drinks. When they eventually came I asked if we could order right away. We placed our orders and waited. Caesar salad arrived in a reasonable time and then we waited and waited. Our server never checked in with us, I had to flag him down to get more water and ask when we could expect our food. Eventually our orders arrived, one of our party received her order before the rest of us. She ordered the Shrimp Gamberetti which she really enjoyed. Our other orders eventually came along and we both had ordered the Frutti De Mare with the white wine and garlic sauce. When our plate arrived, it was huge, way too much pasta and a generous amount of seafood. The seafood was well cooked and hot but the pasta and sauce were on the cool side and totally lacking in flavour. We had to resort to asking for salt.....really!!! I could not determine even a hint of garlic. It was seriously lacking in seasoning. They would be far better to reduce the amount of pasta to at least a third of what they gave you and them maybe the sauce could have a chance of enhancing the pasta. We ate the seafood and some pasta and still had this huge plate of pasta left over which unfortunately was flavourless. The waiter returned after we were finished our meals and offered a complimentary dessert from the owner due to our extensive wait. We appreciated that and choose their cheesecake which we took to go as it was late by this point. We had the cheesecake at home and it was light as a feather and delicious.
