June 4th, 2023 in the late afternoon my brother and I attended this establishment. We both ordered a beer to start. Upon the arrival of our beverage I was served a dirty glass to which I attempted to clean with my sanitizer to no avail (Health and Safety issue). I then approached the server and quietly away from other patrons and requested a new glass as I was unsuccessful in cleaning it myself. The sever took my glass and indeed came back with a cleaner glass with an explanation and apology as ( it took just over a half an hour for me to receive a consumable beverage) and I then requested a coaster as all the other patrons around us received one with the exception of my brother and I. We received our food ate our bruschetta bread and finished our drinks. When the server came back to check on us and asked if we wanted another a drink, I took the opportunity to kindly say “no thank just the bill, I am getting a little cold” she then offer us another table with more sun to which we politely declined, and said “just the bill.” It took so long and than we continued to observe our server checking out two other tables and continued taking another order at the table next to us that lead me to call the manager while still seated at my table. When the manager Mark came out I was shocked that he did not present in a professional manner as he still had sleep in his eyes and look as if he just rolled out of bed. There was no apology offered from the manager, furthermore he left and my brother and I sat at the table as I requested Id like to pay so we can leave the establishment as I had been attempting to pay the bill to no avail. The manager left the table and the server returned with the debit machine for a second time where we were finally able to pay and proceed with our day. This was a very disappointing experience as I have not ever had this type of experience at this establishment prior to today. Since this place has been sold and is under new management the service and vibe is all wrong! Everyone looked lost and hungover, with poor customer service. It was unsanitary and uncleaned. I was actually embarrassed for the staff and owner. Side Note: The “new owner” was in Parry Sound. In order for a business to thrive as this one once did in the heart of downtown Barrie you need to be invested. It appeared that everyone associated with established wants to get paid to play hard and workless! That comes from top down. One Seriously Disappointed Patron!!

Queens Hotel Restaurant and Bar is an absolute gem! I’ve been here twice now, and each visit has been amazing. The atmosphere is always on point—there’s such an incredible vibe with the live DJ and band setting the perfect tone for the night. The crowd here is fantastic, super friendly, and welcoming. Whether you’re there for dinner or hanging out at the bar, you’re bound to mingle, make new friends, and enjoy some great conversations. Our waitress was a standout—she was the definition of a vibe! Friendly, energetic, and attentive, she truly added to the experience and made our night even better. If you’re looking for a spot that combines great food, music, and energy, Queens Hotel Restaurant and Bar is the place to be. Can’t wait to come back!

I was not impressed with my visit/ experience on Friday the 26th. I’ll be honest and say I was genuinely afraid I was going to get sick from our visit. Our table was clearly not wiped down, there was dried up water marks from previous drinks before. The glasses that were given to us were completely dirty with residue from previous drinkers, there was even a clear lip marking that was definitely not from me. Working in the industry I know that taking these extra steps to clean for your guest to feel more safe is not that difficult. Drinks and food and drinks were okay.

Wow this place would have been flawless, if it wasn’t for the lack of respect, and beyond bad customer service they inflicted on their customers. I was suprised to see the staff order our party of 20 plus people who had reserved 3 tables for 6pm on Friday, be kicked out of our table, and ordered to squish into 2 tables at around 8 pm, while they offered our 3rd table to young kids who may have been under age, who had no intention of sharing their now table with any of us, to top this rudeness off we were spending tons of money on food, and drinks, it wasn’t like we were holding up seats and not spending money, the whole experience was degrading, I wont be back, not even for a function. I must also mention when I walked in just before 6 pm and asked where the tables for my party were reserved they mocked me, for not having the reservers name correct. I also had to go searching for silverware for my dinner, as the waitress never provided any 10 mins after I asked for it. My last thoughts on this business, trailer park trash, and money hungry who will take your hard earned money, and later kick you out of your seat, to provide seats to young customers, this is beyond sick, a true rating would be 2. I will find other places to have dinner, and enjoy entertainment, where I will be respected. The Queens will be the LAST place I visit...

The last two times I have been there have not been good, though the staff were friendly and courteous.

The second-to-last time I was there was a couple months ago, with two friends. We all ordered our own order of chicken tenders. The tenders tasted like nothing...literally nothing. No seasoning (not even salt) could be tasted, nor could the chicken. We didn't complain but when the waitress asked us how our meal was, our faces gave us away so we explained. We received a 50% discount, which was a kind gesture. No, none of us had COVID-related loss of taste or smell.

The last time I was there was yesterday; a friend and I split three appetizers. We got the deep fried pickles, potato spuds and the dry ribs. The deep fried pickles were fantastic. The order of spuds was supposed be six pieces, but only five arrived. The dry ribs were tasty, but for twelve dollars we received a whopping four ribs, plus two other miniscule pieces that were essentially deep-fried gristle.

Three tiny apps and one drink cost more than $50, before tip (we tipped well, as the service was fantastic). We didn't complain because a gift card covered most of the cost of the meal, but that's probably the last time I will risk eating at the Queens. You just don't get value for your money. There are plenty of restaurants on Dunlop Street that have...
