Rim Thanon is hands down the best Thai food I've ever had. I'm quite the foodie and I only have a handful of spots that I go to religiously, but Rim Thanon is at the absolute top of that list at number one. Their food hits EVERY SINGLE TIME. I've tried multiple things on their menu and there has not been a single dish that I have not liked. These guys have it mastered. It's perfectly complex Thai food with a homey touch that I haven't found any where else. The flavours are so vibrant and perfectly balanced with sweet, salty, sour, and aromatic.
I've become a long time regular now, every time I walk in it's the same warm greeting, followed by an automatic punch in of my order! The staff are so attentive, they're always smiling and making sure the food is tasty and made to perfection. Shoutout to the kitchen staff for having each dish down PAT! They are consistent every time with flavour, portions, spice and quality. Everyone gets along really well as you'll hear laughs and giggles coming from the kitchen and behind the counter, which is always nice to see. I believe its ran by a wife and husband - I occasionally see them pop in with their little girl juggling a thousand things, and it's nice to see that they are so dedicated to their craft!
If you're going to order ANYTHING from here, I absolutely recommend the panang curry with jasmine rice - it's my go to order and it hits every time. The curry sauce is peanut and coconut based but it is soooo incredibly rich it pairs amazingly with rice. Honourable mentions - Islamic noodle, green curry, Khao soi, pad see ew, fresh rolls, and their mango sticky rice. If we're being honest, anything from the menu is a win so go crazy!
I could go on and on about this place but try it for yourself!
See you guys next week (and the week after that, and the week after that,...
Read moreOh, Rim Thanon, where do I begin? My culinary escapade here left me in a state of shock, both from the fiery flavours and the realization that I might have underestimated my spice tolerance.
I dove headfirst into the menu, channeling my inner adventurous Canadian, determined to venture beyond the realm of burgers and hot dogs. I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai (surprise, surprise?), thinking, "How spicy could medium really be?" Well, let me tell you, I had no idea what I was getting myself into.
First things first, my mouth was set ablaze. Not just your run-of-the-mill hot sauce kind of fire; we're talking "Call the Fire Department" level. Disclaimer: My dining companion and I are seasoned spicy food enthusiasts. We scoff at what most consider "too hot," but Rim Thanon's medium spice level had us sweating like contestants in a chili-eating contest.
But here's the kicker: even as my taste buds screamed in protest, each bite of those inferno-infused noodles was unbelievably delicious. It's like Rim Thanon secretly employs culinary wizards who can turn mouth-scorching fire into pure gastronomic ecstasy.
Now, for our recommendation: If you value your taste buds' well-being, start with mild. Seriously, don't be a hero. Dip your toes into the Thai flavour pool before you attempt the spicy Olympic dive. And if, by some chance, you happen to be a fire-breathing deity of spice, then, by all means, brave the medium, or dare I say it, take on the "hot" like a spicy superhero.
In conclusion, Rim Thanon is a thrilling, tongue-tingling adventure that will have you questioning your life choices in the best way possible. Just be prepared to sip on your beverage like it's the elixir of life, and keep a fire extinguisher on standby for...
Read moreDelicious ! However.... First time trying. Saw an article from a local paper online, and decided to give it a go since Thai is my fave! Ordered take out.
Everything was delicious: Mango salad, Beef Krapao, Green curry chicken, and Pad Thai. I ordered Jasmine Rice as well, but didn't get any. There was some rice included beside the krapao basil beef in the same container. but I think it comes with rice. But I got free spring Rolls Yay. awesome, light and crispy. Anyway, no complaints at all with the taste. Everything was very good and seemed authentic. Never had basil beef with fried egg, but it was seriously good! But taste aside ..... here's the reason for loss of a star. It was seriously pricey. That order was $75.
Be prepared to pay a lot more than your usual. Seems dishes are generally + 20 - 40% higher $ than other places here. Tom Yum and Tom Kha soups are $10, Pad thai and noodle Entrees are $16, all others are $17 and up each, even fried rice, or mixed vegs. Now you're probably thinking " yeah maybe a premium, but I bet the servings are huge" Nope. The servings are also half the size!!!. Not even kidding. The mango salad container was the size of my hand -the smallest black plastic container. The krapao beef, while super tasty was the next black rectangular size, the usual size, but half of that was rice.
Now I know my review is atypical given all the 5 star reviews here. I presume most of the 5 star reviews are the lunchtime special- they look like they might be worth a shot. Because the taste is...
