To start, I love everything about this place. The music, the food, the drinks... It's all amazing that I genuinely look forward to coming to this cafe all the time.
But wow. Each time I have come here, my love for this place has diminished because the customer service is absolutely terrible.
Although the place has such nice seating and decorations, the cozy ambiance gets ruined when the harsh workers are around.
Every time I go up to order, they look miserable and annoyed. They have a standoff aura that makes you feel unwelcome and glare at customers once they're seated. I have come multiple times with multiple sets of workers, and they all give the same impression of judging you as if you don't deserve to be there.
One time I was eating a cookie I just bought, and a minute later a worker swoops by and grabs my plate. She didn't acknowledge if I was done or even ask a simple "Can I take your plate?". She just glared at me and walked away. Although I was surprised, I said "Thank you," and even then, she looked bothered and like I had burdened her. It made me feel like I was being looked down upon although I was going to put the dish away when I was done.
Another time I came with friends, and while we were sitting and chatting, we could feel them glaring at us. We thought we were potentially imagining it, but later that day I found out that my cousin was friends with one of the workers. My cousin mentioned how my friends and I were at the Mellow Mug earlier, and the worker said "Oh that was your cousin... They were so annoying."
I can understand if it was a busy day and they could have been stressed, but the place was completely empty and they were just chilling behind the counter. Hearing them openly judge us made me feel guilty for trying to enjoy myself with friends, and made me feel insecure about staying there in both a group setting and just to do work alone.
I honestly wish I could enjoy myself fully because I truly love everything. I really mean it when I say I crave the pastries and adore the unique setup.
But time after time I feel like my presence makes the workers disgusted.
Maybe in the future things will be different, but for now I feel I have to stop coming here- which is extremely unfortunate as I'll miss the vegan sugar cookies. I used to recommend this place to everyone who was willing to listen, but I don't want to keep supporting a company that hates its customers.

My friend was on the couch with her toddler in her lap while our 3 other well-behaved children sat at the sofa chairs playing with their Lego minifigures when this staff member walked over and aggressively yanked a plant away from behind the rocking chair where they sat. She then told my friend that our kids had put the coasters on the floor- which we agree is not ok, we just hadn't noticed because we were chatting and eating and entertaining her toddler - and she told my friend to pick them up. My friend was a little taken aback by her attitude but said ok, and the staff member continued to stand there and then said: "NOW." I have never in my life been treated like this anywhere. And as she continued to stand around, my friend was visibly uncomfortable and as we cleaned up to leave, the staff, while continuing to be rude and badgering us as we did as she asked, said: "I don't know why you're upset." I should think that was obvious. The icing on the cake was the big cheery "Have a nice day!" she gave us a minute later on our way out. The kids were playing together, but staying at their chairs and in no way damaging anything nor being disrespectful. It's annoying that I tipped when I ordered. They did not deserve a single extra dime. Do yourself a favour and pick one of the many other cafés around. Especially if...

From the moment I started working across the street, Mellow Mug Cafe has been my daily haven. There's something truly special about this place that sets it apart from the usual coffee stops. Every morning, the rich aroma of their dark roast coffee draws me in, and their warm customer service makes me feel right at home.
The cafe's commitment to quality is evident not only in their coffee but also in their delectable menu offerings. I've become quite a fan of their mouthwatering scones, which perfectly complement my morning coffee ritual. Speaking of their menu, I can confidently say that Mellow Mug's offerings surpass the typical choices at Starbucks or Tim Hortons. The food is more than just sustenance; it's a culinary delight that never fails to exceed expectations.
Recently, I had the pleasure of trying their Market veggie sandwich, and let me tell you, it was a burst of flavors and freshness. The attention to detail in crafting their menu items truly shines through. With each bite, I could taste the care and passion that goes into every dish.
Mellow Mug Cafe has become more than just a cafe for me; it's a sanctuary of exceptional tastes....
