Posting this review for our visit on Sunday, December 10th (2023): We went here to celebrate my friend's 20th birthday as a group of 4. Our table was reserved for 6:30pm, but we arrived a bit early than intended. One of the servers were kind to accomodate our early arrival for our reservation, which we much appreciated. Walking in, there wasn't much room to stand and wait for a table as they placed live music-quite literally-in front of the door. For one thing, the music set the mood.. However, the volume level made it extremely hard to hear when a server was ready to sit us at a table or while we were trying to get a server's attention to order our food. We waited a good 15-20 minutes watching waiters go back and forth while we tried to get their attention to put in our order. I honestly couldn't tell if they purposely ignored us or forgot to check on us, as most of the time they locked eyes with us and turned their heads another way. Once again, it didn't really bother us as it was busy at the time and maybe staff were overwhelmed. Our order consisted of 6 items excluding drinks; 1 appetizer, 4 mains, and 1 dessert. Notably, the food is AMAZING! Compliments to the cooks! BUT, food took pretty long to come out. We only received 4/6 of our order over the span of 2.5 (and reaching 3) hours, the missing 2 were 1 main and the dessert. When we asked our waiter about the missing main dish, he blamed us for not ordering it and basically argued with us about it. Keeping in mind, we ordered everything at the SAME TIME. This waiter was pretty rude and aggressive. Instead of arguing with us about his mistake, he should've just put the order in. At the end, we realized that they never ended up giving us our dessert. On the side, we ordered 3 alcoholic drinks and 1 virgin drink- for the birthday girl. She is straight-edge when it comes to alcohol, and we wanted to respect that. We told a waiter that it was her birthday and asked if they can bring our churros (the missing dessert) for the celebration. What we got instead during ths celebration was a shot.. for the birthday girl. Speaking on her behalf, she was really uncomfortable being pressured into drinking it because it wasn't what we asked for and the whole restaurant was practically watching her as they chanted for her to drink. The waiter did a little knocking gesture on her head after she took it, and she only told me after that he was knocking on her head really hard-enough to hurt. This is the same rude waiter from before. Overall, we spent about $140 including tips. We know it must've been a bit stressful for the staff to serve during peak dinner hours and that's why we tipped. Otherwise, we wouldn't have because of the attitude and response time to our table! We never got his name, but at the time he wore a blue shirt and had a buzz cut. Note: I would like to point out that they DID NOT ID us for alcoholic drinks! So, if you order a drink and you legally can't or don't want alcohol, you HAVE to tell them it's a...
Read moreI attended this location with Rodrigo (see his review pasted below). I’ve attended this location before and generally had a good time, however the service can typically be a bit slow. This time however, the service was very bad, the waitress gave us lots of attitude when we asked if a dish contained nuts and separately seemed very annoyed when we asked for more water. Food took probably 45-50 minutes to come out. When we were done and asked for the bill we waited another 15 minutes with no bill in sight. Rodrigo had to get up and go pay at the bar instead. However they didn’t have his change for him, that was on the manager (or maybe another server) walking around the restaurant. The staff at the bar told us we could go sit back down and he would come give us our change however we waited at our table for another 10 minutes and when he still hadn’t shown up, we got up and went to go find him. The owners response to Rodrigo’s review is completely disingenuous, there has been no effort to contact him and it didn’t address his concerns at all. I’m writing this review to make it known that all his observations are true and the restaurant has made no efforts to accommodate our concerns and seem to be trying to downplay the reality of the situation. This is extremely disappointing as I used to enjoy coming to this location but this behaviour especially from management is completely unacceptable. Do better.
“ What a disaster.
The place smelled like a public washroom right at the front door disgusting. We sat on the patio because of that.
Then we waited over 45 minutes for the food. Way too long. The service? Horrible. I asked the server if the dish had peanuts (I have a food allergy), and she rolled her eyes and said “no” with attitude. Seriously?
When we went to pay, because we were tired of waiting, I gave her cash and she told us to wait even more because the manager was walking around with the cash in his “fanny pack » It took another 15 minutes just to pay.
Never coming back. Would I recommend it?...
Read moreWe’ve been coming to this Mexicanada location on and off for 10 years and up until 2022, the food was delicious and it was our go to for Mexican food! I don’t know what happened, but boy has this place gone downhill since then. The restaurant itself is falling apart, it looks old and dirty. The service was ok but the food was really such a disappointment. My husband and I always each get the combo platter for one (taco, small burrito, tostada which typically came with enchilada sauce on the bottom, crema on top, side of rice and refried beans). When we ordered tonight, it was shocking at how terrible the food looked and tasted. There was no sauce, no crema, no beans, no rice, the lettuce on the tostada and in the taco was frozen, the meat was very cold and dry and it was all lacking flavour. To make things worse, my husband found a corse black hair in his food. We were really looking forward to coming back here tonight after so many years (circumstantially) and our experience ruined our dinner. We even brought friends of ours with us at our recommendation and we were so embarrassed. They claimed their food was ok and they ate it all but later admitted that it wasn’t very good and they felt bad so they ate it. We also ordered some apps that were sub-par at best (corn salad - small portion for a shareable and it was just ok, chicharrones - overcooked, dry and very bland, ceviche - basically an onion-heavy pico with some recently thawed, rubbery shrimp tossed in and it too was very bland) The margaritas were good and that was literally it. The worst part is that the prices have gone up but the quality has gone WAY down: Unfortunately we are not going back. Do yourself a favour, save your money and...
