I’ve been a regular customer at Neko Sushi for years, often placing large orders and supporting their business. Unfortunately, my recent experience was so frustrating that I doubt I’ll be returning.
I ordered over $200 worth of sushi online and made a few substitution requests. When I arrived to pick it up, I discovered they had added $30 to my total without informing me or asking for approval. Despite being upset, I didn’t argue and was ready to pay.
I had brought cash to take advantage of their advertised 10% cash discount, but I ended up being $15 short. I asked if I could pay the remaining balance with my debit card, but I was told this would void the entire 10% discount, which would add over $20 to the cost of my order. I scrambled to find as much as I could, digging through my pockets, and managed to come up with everything except 85 cents. I felt embarrassed having to search for loose change while they stood there offering no flexibility. Their only solutions were to drive to an ATM or forfeit the discount entirely.
This rigid approach was disappointing, especially considering I’ve been a loyal customer for years and was already hit with an unapproved extra charge. The unwillingness to work with me over such a small amount felt unnecessary and disrespectful.
This experience has completely changed my view of Neko Sushi. I won’t be ordering from them again, and I hope they rethink how they treat their...
Read moreAs a vegan, eating in restaurants can sometimes be a hassle when the staff aren't familiar with what vegans can eat and more importantly, what they don't eat. Since nothing on Neko Sushi's menu is labelled as vegan specifically, I was expecting the usual: that their veggie rolls would include tempura batter with eggs in it and sauces with fish in it. However, our very friendly and knowledgeable server who told us he used to be a chef and therefore pays attention to/reads ingredients and knew which items and sauces were vegan helped me feel confident placing an order for the veggie roll with egg-free tempura battered veggies inside and unagi sauce (that’s not made from any eel/fish). He was super attentive also, and always had a great big smile on his face. At the beginning of the meal he served my friend a bowl of Miso soup which came with her bento box and informed us that normally he would serve the other person a free bowl as well but it wasn’t vegan. And then after the meal he said “we always give out a chocolate as dessert" and handed my friend a milk chocolate square, and me a dark chocolate one! I was shocked! I’ve seen restaurants serve that brand of individually wrapped chocolate squares many times before but never have I seen options for dark too. Really blown away by the thoughtfulness and experience at Neko sushi in Bradford. My only regret is not learning our...

I placed a large sushi order online (over $200) and requested a few substitutions. When I arrived to pick up my order, I was shocked to find they had charged me an additional $30 without notifying me or asking for my consent. Despite this, I didn’t argue and was prepared to pay.
I brought cash to benefit from their advertised 10% discount for cash payments but realized I was $15 short. I kindly asked if I could pay the remaining $15 using my debit card. To my surprise, I was told that paying any part of the order with debit would void the entire 10% discount. On a $200+ order, this discount amounts to quite a bit of money.
As a long-term customer who orders from Neko Sushi at least once a month, I was shocked by this inflexible and greedy policy, especially since I was already overcharged without prior notice. The refusal to accommodate a loyal customer over $15 felt disrespectful and dismissive.
This experience has left a sour taste in my mouth, and I will no longer spend my money at Neko Sushi. I hope they reconsider how they treat their loyal patrons...
