I came here today just after they opened. When I stepped into the establishment with my sister we were greeted with an amazing Mexican Fiesta decorated interior. I was immediately excited to dine in at this restaurant.
Let us start with atmosphere. This restaurant really feels like stepping into a fun Mexican Fiesta with great festive decorations and great Spanish music. However if it is a beautiful day outside they also have a patio for your dining pleasure.
Secondly service, the service here makes you feel like family. Very warm and inviting and they are more than happy to have a conversation with you. The best thing I felt about the service though was the fact that they were happy to explain things that you may not be accustomed to without making you feel stupid. Very attentive and hospitable service that makes you feel welcomed and appreciated.
Lastly food. My sister and I love Mexican food however I usually go for safer options such as tacos and burritos. This time I decided to order things I've never tried before. We both started things off with a tamale. I got the chicken and my sister got the pork. Wow were they amazing. Extremely fresh as my tamale was insanely hot with so much steam coming off of it. Fantastically flavourful with a side of salsa verde which was quite spicy for non spice eaters however it was not just spicy it was very flavourful as well as spicy.
For our main courses my sister got the chicken and potato flautas otherwise known more commonly to non-Mexicans as taquitos topped with lettuce, sour cream, pico de gallo and queso blanco. These were insanely good. Although my sister wished there was more pico de gallo she agreed these were amazing. The potatoes tasted so good that I did not even care if there was meat. Which if you are not into eating meat they have a potato only option and I can guarantee you will not regret ordering these flautas. I ordered the 2 huaraches which is a deep fried corn dough similar to a corn tortilla but much thicker with beans, my choice of carne asada, lettuce, sour cream and queso blanco on top. These were phenomenal. The carne asada is gorgeously tender and flavour packed. Everything worked so harmoniously together. From the crunchy base to the smooth beans, tender pork and creamy cheese and sour cream. I was so happy I chose to try these over my standard burrito order. I also got a horchata, which is a rice milk and cinnamon drink which was refreshing and the absolute perfect delicious drink to have on this hot day. Finally we finished the meal with dessert. As much as I love churros I felt I should try something new so I ordered the pastel tres leches. It was a layered cake with a tangy cream cheese like filling and whipped cream on top finished with a drizzle of dulce de leches and this cake was phenomenal. Not overly sweet but the perfect finish to an amazing meal.
Overall I will definitely be coming back. This was without a doubt one of the best Mexican meals I've ever had. Everything was well made...
Read moreWe wanted mexican food and thought we would try a new place; however, we were not impressed with Hay Caramba. Allow me to elaborate my three star rating. This is not to offend by any means but to share my experience -after all that is what leaving a review is all about. So, let me begin with the phone conversation I had while ordering. Due to allergy reasons among other reasons, when asked if adding cheese was available the answer I got was: " Yes, you can but our tacos don't come with it. The menu says taco, not taco bell". Firstly, I thought that was rude and unecessary. Secondly, a simple yes it can would have been sufficient. When ordering another set of tacos and asked again for lettuce and cheese, I was replied with: " our meats are marinated where they do not need any cheese. The cheese will ruin it". I asked if it could be put on the side, man answered: "yes, you want your cheese, I'll put your cheese on the side". I ordered a third item on the menu as well. I went to pick it up as they were packaging it, paid and left. We opened it up right away and that is where we first noticed one order was wrong and the other two just did not look appealing at all. The carnitas were so dry - thank God for the lettuce and cheese. And, the other items were not as good either. The items from the menu are not new to us as we have had them mulitple times and these were just not up to our expectations. In addition to that, they were poorly filled. In every taco shop I have been to, the tacos have been overly filled with meat of our choice and whatever topping on top. These were very mediocre to us. Again, as I mentioned earlier, this is not to bash or say it is not authentic -no, none of that. Simply, the taste was completely off for us as well as the presentation. Perhaps today was a bad - who knows. So, three stars because it was not the worst place I have been too but, customer service can reserve opinions - I know my tacos very well and I just simply liked them dressed the way I want. Tacos were under dressed to us and some of the tacos were very dry. Maybe this feedback will help them improve maybe it won't. For those reasons, we will not...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at. Hay Caramba a Mexican restaurant tucked away in the heart of Bradford. I began my meal with their signature guacamole and freshly made tortilla chips. The guacamole was incredibly flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and had just the right amount of tanginess. The chips were delightfully crispy and served warm, making it clear that they were made in-house with care.
For the main course, I opted for the chicken enchiladas. The presentation was impeccable, with vibrant colors and enticing aromas. The enchiladas themselves were a burst of flavors, with tender chicken, a rich sauce, and melted cheese that added a comforting touch. The portion size was generous, ensuring that every bite was a satisfying one.
The highlight of my dining experience was undoubtedly the service. The staff at Hay Caramba were attentive, knowledgeable, and passionate about the food they served. They were more than happy to answer any questions I had and made excellent recommendations based on my preferences.
