Went by on the weekend to grab a box of patties since we were in the area.
As always the place was busy and the line up was out the door. There were two ladies up front and they were very friendly. One is new but she handled herself like a pro.
The staff in the back were constantly checking on quantities in the oven up front to ensure customers purchasing double or single patties would have no issues.
Now I have to be realistic and say the wait for my one box was a long one. That being said they were also filling orders that were 3 or more boxes in some instances in addition to cook food.
The AC was going full blast so that was a bonus. The people in line waited patiently with no complaints and with only one gentleman walking out of the line I'm going to guess there is a reason the line is always so full.
The store was clean, fridges with beverages were well stocked. They even have Rum 'n' raisin and grapenut ice cream for sale.
The patty themselves were good. Now that being said, there is room for improvement. I prefer this thinner flakier crust on a patty. The flavour was fantastic and temperature 🌡 wise, they were Piping hot 🔥
The spicy patty had a nice little heat which was appreciated. Where they can improve is on the quantity of filling they put in.
Crust is on par. Flavour is on par but a bit more filling would make it a perfect patty.
I paid $22 for a box of 4 spicy beef and 8 mild.
Aside from the extremely long wait time and the fact that the patties could use a tad more filling, it was good.
I had a great chat with a fellow customer who was waiting as well so overall as long as the wait was, it wasn't unpleasant.
Hopefully the owner(s) will figure out a plan to spearhead some of these issues and they will be fine.
Will I be back? Absolutely 💯
And again kudos to the to two queens serving. Jamaican restaurants sometimes get negative comments around poor service. This was not the case here. Everyone was professional...
Read moreThis rating would have been a zero if that option was available. I had the most disrespectful service today, Sept 28th at the Kennedy/Queen location.
I went into the store to purchase 1 box of hot patties, 1 box of cold patties and 1 container of coconut ice-cream. I was the only person in the store at that time. I waited approximately 20 mins and still did not get my order, while watching other customers came and went with their purchases. Eventually, I got frustrated and requested a refund back on my card. I was told that only the manager was able to process the refund. He, the so-called manager came and the cashier told him that i requested a refund due to the long wait. He smiled at the cashier, entered some digits and them walked away. He did not acknowledge me. He did not apologize. He just walked away as if I was invisible. The refund was completed without the funds going back on my card. I was given cash instead. Its as if after I had paid for my purchase, I was no longer significant. As a customer, I expected a much better service from Tinnels and not to mention, from...
Read moreI have never been to Tinnel's Restaurant, however, here in Edmonton Alberta, as a family, we purchase Tinnel's patties very very often. We pay $13.97-$18.97 per box (now let that soak in Tinnels. Needless to say we are dedicated to your brand! I however, felt compelled to write a review today after reheating a patty and the quality of the beef inside the mild beef patty was not what it use to be pre-pandemic. My children did not ask for seconds :(. I tasted way more flour, gelatin or starch in the filling than beef. Needless to say the quality taste you guys are usually associated with was missing. Here in Edmonton your patty frequents many potlucks throughout organizations where Jamaicans work or have associates. Plz don't allow quantity to dictate your quality. After shelling out that much money for your patties, we don't want to be disappointed. Pre-pandemic I would have given you guys 5+ stars...now it's a 3 because the crust was still ok enough, but the beef filling in the mild beef failed miserably. I'm really hoping that was just a bad batch.
Just keep it original...
