Update as of October 19 Dropping my review to 1* for an AYCE Lunch Buffet on a Tuesday (23.99 as of this date)
The Good: The hostess was friendly and amiable.
The Bad: Flying Fish Egg Salad - the dressing is nothing more than standard mayonaise and a touch of sesame oil. No miso, no ginger, very bland.
Service - Of the three servers we had: One did not speak English One barely spoke English
Sushi (Nigiri) - Rice vs Fish ratio is not good. Too much rice for the portions of fish
The Ugly:
Tempura Shrimp - We complained about the Tempura Shrimp not being cooked as it was translucent/transparent and tasted raw. According to one of the only English speaking staff members, the owner of the restaurant uses a "pre-cooked" shrimp that when cooked still appears translucent. Not white as per regular shrimp. However; it still tasted flimsy, raw and very salty (sadly, I swallowed the piece prior to realizing it). AVOID at all costs!!!
White Tuna Fish (Butterfish) - Now I know why they say don't visit an AYCE Sushi Restaurant on a Monday-Wednesday. The Fish tasted extremely fishy (old and bad) and the nasal sensation when chewing was one that produced pure nausea. Unfortunately, being as hungry as we were, I swallowed the first piece until I realized something was wrong. I put a second piece in my mouth to analyze the taste and the smell which was just HORRIBLE. I tried to tell one of our servers and the response was: "No English" and she walked away. I spat out the piece and did not eat the remaining 4 pieces.
The Worst:
After about 20 mins, I got ill from what I suspect that piece of sushi. So I after purging my system of the bad piece of fish (or possible the shrimp tempura piece I ate); to add insult to injury - after washing my hands, the ratio to lever depression for paper towels was set to an absolute ratio. In order to get a 2" long paper towel, I had to pull the lever down 30 times (check the pics). There's cheaping out on the food, but cheaping out on paper towels? Really?
Conclusion: I will not be coming here, nor ordering for the indefinite future. However, if you do; please post a review of your experience as I'd like to see if they get better. May 2021 It was ok. During the time of covid, of course we had to have take out/pick-up/delivery, so we ordered a family platter.
The sushi was fairly good but my only gripe is that the sashimi were more along the lines of sushi cuts and were very small and thin by comparison.
The platter wasn't bad, but wouldn't be my first choice going forward. It was our first time trying it just to be different. But am glad we...
Read moreWorst experience ever! So i went there at 9 pm since it closes at 10 I fugured why not it's my first timw by the way. I go in and the lady at the counter asked me If it was my first time here and I said yes, dhe then said "oh then you can't have the all you can eat menu" I asked why but she talked so fast that I could not understand... Then she asked if i want the regular menu so I say well might as well. When I order I asked for the 62 sushi platter. The waitress asked me 3 times if i was sure i wanned that (im with a friend btw i wans not alone) then when she finally took my order to the back they came back with 24 sushi but no sauces no wasabi no ginger ... Nothing... So i asked a waitress if i could have some sauce she said ok ... Ten minutes pass and we still dont have sauces ao i ask again they say ok... 10 more minutes still no sauces ... I ask again and they semd another waitress with i ask for sauces ... Again. She apologises because i asked why dis i have to ask 4 times she said because they are about to close in an hour... I say but its still not a reason first the all u can eat menu now this ... I've asked to speak eith the manager and she refused to come to our table so I had to go to her and complain ... She then acted like she did not know what i was talking about ... Anyways i tell her we ate 4 sushi out of the 62 and i did not like the service at all that i did not want the rest and i just wanned to leave and pay for the food I ate... Dhe refused ... Then I told her we would have to deal with cops then she refused to call them... So i said you know what i just paid for the meal and asked for her name and the waitresses names she refused 3 times to give me her name so after the fourth she finally told me and i said i was going to write a bad review she just gave me the card and laughed! It is my first and LAST time there at this...
Read moreThe selection was average and the food was good. The ipad ordering system isn't great as most items don't have a description. The ambience is generic modern but the paper cranes were a nice touch. There's lots of wait staff but not enough chefs. Things get cleared quickly but food takes a while to be brought out.
My main issue is that they are anal! We're asked for a booth and were told that they can't seat people in the last booth. We asked about the 6 empty booths on the third row of seats and were told no again.
We asked for ice cream and were told that you could only order dessert at the end of the meal.
Also half of our order (the most expensive items on the list) was 'lost'. We had to manually (with paper) order them again and still only received half.
They also really slow down orders. We waited for 10 minutes between orders with no food left even though we ordered the second batch just after the first was delivered to avoid the wait.
I am not coming back.
I'm reducing by a star because I got berated for 10 minutes while a waitress explained to me that "everyone else here is eating all their food" since there was some food left on my table and I was asking her to check on an order for a red dragon roll that we had been waiting for for 1.5 HOURS. I tried to explain to her that I am still eating and she kept looking at the roll and a half left on the table and saying again that we had to finish our food and basically refusing to bring out more food until the table...
