An unfortunate experience today. My wife and I have been regular customers of this particular wimpys diner for about 15 years now. Coming more often now than ever before. We eat out with the kids a lot actually as we like to give experiences to our young boys and show them that places like McDonald's and other fast food joints aren't the only way to go. In the past my experiences here have been fantastic. Enough that it kept me feeling like I was a wanted client and even a friend. Today though unfortunately we had a really bad experience that won't bring us back. 2 of my sons and I went out for breakfast after swimming lessons this morning. New waitress..fine. that's ok. She was friendly too. Everything was OK until we received the bill. Normally our bills are typically around the 30-35 dollar range plus tip. 18% is probably our norm here. The bill for some odd reason this morning was double that. I figured it was a mistake as my youngest son ordered off the kids menu and none of the items there were over 8 dollars.. his burger came to $17. My classic breakfast and my oldest boys usually arr around $13. Today they were 17 each plus 5 each for bacon..which from.past experiences had always came with the breakfasts. No one informed us of these price changes. The kids burger was I guess unavailable and apparently has been for years? Why is it on the kids menu for 8 dollars then and why serve him an adult burger without informing us about it..needless to say they weren't moving on the price and the fact they didn't inform us. I tipped 15% still as I can't leave any restaurant without tipping. Unfortunately though because of the lack of help and understanding really..we won't be back. I guess in the grand scheme of things 1 family doesn't really matter to a restaurant but it's a shame regardless. No more business from us. We'll find a more reasonable family restaurant relationship somewhere else. To the owners. We've spoken a few times and shared laughs in the past. We bid you a good bye and good luck. Really a shame for a difference of maybe 20...
Read moreI drove 1.5 hours to meet a high-school friend here for breakfast. My friend arrived just before me, and had just gotten her tea when I arrived. From the moment I arrived the vibe was very odd. We were the only two patrons at that time, so it was not busy at all. My friend ordered 1st and it seemed like everything she ordered was challenged by the waitress in one way or another... can't do that, there is a charge for that. Okay whatever, but it seemed like she was listening to us talking about it after the order was taken and got defensive, showing up at the table not just once, stating she is a min wage worker, doesn't own the place, we were being rude etc. We were stunned by the approach she took and could only say OK!! My friend ordered her meat items well done and no potatoes and she got barely cooked meat and potatoes. The waitress asked my friend if she wanted more water for her tea, my friend said maybe a tea bag, but was told it was like ordering another tea and that was full price... she was all about pricing and upcharges, my friend said just ice water please. Well when that came, so did the attitude then tears and loud defensive talking from the waitress. We were so incredibly uncomfortable, we decided we could not safely send food back to be fixed, and that we just could not eat there. We decided to leave, and were offering to pay for our drinks the waitress started yelling she was caling the police, because we were dinning and dashing, but we weren't doing that. Nothing ordered came right, the vibe was off and we were to upset to enjoy breakfast. She clearly was not having a good day and took it out on us instead of taking a time out. Sadly we were turned off and upset as well. We were not treated properly at all and that...
Read moreRight from the start I didn't feel very welcome. The waitress said "go there" and pointed to where I was to sit. She then left the menus on the table and just walked away. After going through the menu I realized there was no kids section. When the waitress finally came by to take our order she said "ya, no kids menu, adult food only"... I'm a single mom with 2 small children, we've been coming here for years, and now you tell me 🙄. After ordering our food came pretty quick. Mine wasn't really cooked exactly how I wanted but overall wasn't bad. My daughters grilled Cheese was just a cheese sandwich (cheese not melted) and my son's eggs were scrambled slimly, but we didn't want to complain and continued eating. We then waited patiently to ask our waitress if she could bring us some peanut butter and more jam for our toast and if I could get more coffee, but after she had dropped off our food she never even looked our way. By the time the waitress finally came over we were just about to finish our meals. I then asked for a container to put the left overs in, and receive it along side with the bill (never did get the coffee refill). I worked for Whimpy's Diner for over 10 years and if I had the customer service as this waitress I wouldn't have lasted over a day. Overall it wasn't the best experience I've had there, especially to see that the kids menu's are no longer available. Whimpy's has definitely changed from the friendly neighborhood restaurant it used to be. And after writing this review and seeing the response I received from management, she would fail a customer service...
