We were traveling in April and this place was on my list because of their menu that I checked online. I made the reservation, but I believe we arrived few hours earlier. There were still plenty of seats, however it felt like hostess and server were not happy to see us. Like we were bothering them around 5:30 pm on Sunday. The day before I was trying the Blueberry tea for the first time and I really liked it, so decided to order this drink here too. The full pot of tea was served with twice less liquor in a separate glass, that I got the previous night at another place. It was the first thing that me and my husband noticed and discussed with each other. Nowadays, it is pretty hard to find a place that has interesting chicken option on the menu. It is easy to find fried chicken everywhere, but not good baked or grilled chicken with flavored spices. Unfortunately, 19 Okanagan Bar had not met our expectation. The chicken was just not bad. If no mushroom sauce, that we asked to serve in a separate bowl, none of us could enjoy the meal. The chicken breast was not salty or peppered enough. I have to admit that it was juicy and not dry, which is good for chicken breast. However, lack of flavor is not something that you are expecting when eat outside. Again, only creamy mushroom sauce (It was served with only one plate, but we shared it ) made this chicken good for me. Also, the baby carrot and asparagus were awful. Mashed potato is pretty standard for Canadian cuisine: boiled and mashed with the skin. I know that salt and pepper are on the table and you can add them if you feel it’s not enough in your food. And maybe it works for salad. But for cooked meat, when you add spices in the process of preparation, and when you add after - it’s not the same taste.
It is just an average place with a good view, that you try once and don’t wanna...
Read moreWe came here for dinner. We were greeted and seated by a lovely covered patio, overlooking a beautiful golf course. The patio was surrounded by some plexiglass (that was strong enough to absorb an impact from an errant golf ball). Overall the setting was very pleasant and the service was good.
In terms of the food; I ordered a dry aged ribeye with a mushroom Sautee sauce. The ribeye came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The asparagus was delicious and the mashed potatoes were nice and fluffy and appropriately buttered. They were lacking in seasoning however and did come off as a tad bland. This problem with the seasoning came through to the ribeye as well. The ribeye was appropriately cooked at medium rare. It was nicely dressed with a nice sour and acidic mushroom sautee that complemented the dish. There was one problem however; it lacked any semblance of flavor. This ribeye was apparently dry aged for 35 days and was as juicy as you'd expect, but for whatever reason it was like they didn't put any salt in it. Whether by design or not, this ribeye slowly became a chore to eat. It was honestly disappointing given how good everything else at this establishment was. I truly hope this was simply a mistake. I do intend to come here again to try their other offerings. I'm giving this establishment 4 stars in good faith that the rest of their offerings are not so...
Read moreWe got here around 6:30 ish it was already the end of the dinner rush wow people here eat extremely early for dinner lols
The place is absolutely gorgeous.. the resto is in a very beautiful rustic country home not sure how to actually describe it ! The views are absolutely stunning woow .. the ambiance is to die for
However, the staff seem very cold and unwelcoming not sure why but i didn't feel welcomed by anyone and they looked annoyed that we came! :/
Our waitress was extremely shallow and inattentive .. she barely came to check on us .. they brought out our main course while we were still eating our appetizers.. it felt like they wanted us out the door quickly.
The food was mediocre .. the only amazing thing was the truffle fries ... otherwise steak was extremely chewy and medium .. I asked for rare ... the soup was horrendous.. it was extremely acidic .. it felt like marinara sauce that you get at costco heated up D:
The tables don't come with actual linen table cloths just regular paper napkins ugh not what I expected from such a beautiful restaurant
Salad was not that great again there was an extremely sour taste in the dressing .. My taste buds were popping D:!!
Hopefully they take my review as advice and improve on their food +service
Not sure I'll come back unless they improve on the food and...
